Ch. Swiss Sieger Whiskey von der Stadt Hamburg

Ch. Holland Siegerin Wodka von der Stadt Hamburg

The pedigree and photos of this outstanding pair can be accessed by clicking here, extended pedigree and more information..

The product of 4 continuous generations of von der Stadt Hamburg harlequin/black breeding descendants through their dam Quinta von der Stadt Hamburg VDH/DDC33806, a black with white markings (possibly a mantle, as both Whiskey and Wodka are marked with much white in front, collars and high stockings).

The lineage begins with Falter von der Stadt Hamburg VDH/DDC24590 to Leonie von der Stadt Hamburg VDH/DDC28367, to Pia von der Stadt Hamburg VDH/DDC30697, to Quinta von der Stadt Hamburg VDH/DDC33806 dam of Whiskey and Wodka von der Stadt Hamburg.

Falter von der Stadt Hamburg VDH/DDC24590 was sired by Rolf von Muggenkamp VDH/DDC18533; sired by Ispha Moguntia VDH/DDC15509 [son of German Sieger'27/28 Dolf von der Saalburg VDH/DDC8281 and Ute Orlhid VDH/DDC10788], a full brother of Holland Sieger'30 Jagla Moguntia VDH/DDC15506 (in some databases I have found they have the same birth date). Ute Orplid VDH/DDC10788 is the daughter of German Sieger '27 Ador vom Amalienborg VDH/DDC6629 and German Siegerin'27 Christa Orplid VDH/DDC4891. German Sieger'27/28 Dolf von der Saalburg VDH/DDC8281 is out of Fauma Moguntia VDH/DDC3516 by German Sieger'25/27 Bosko von der Saalburg VDH/DDC4584. German Sieger '25/27 Bosko von der Saalburg VDH/DDC4584 is inbred on German Sieger '12 Primus von der Rheinschanze VDH/DDC2098 (2;2). Fauma Moguntia VDH/DDC3516 is linebred on German Sieger '11 Tasso vom Elslertal-Dornburg VDH/DDC815 (4,4,4;3). German Sieger'27 Ador vom Amalienborg VDH/DDC6629 is out crossed and carries German Sieger'21 Prinz Fuchs, German Siegerin'09 Wanda Huber, German Sieger '13 Alexander von Friedrichstein, German Sieger '09 Tristan v Fuessen, German Siegerin '20 Hero (sperberg) and German Sieger '09 Melak Sauer. German Siegerin'27 Christa Orplid VDH/DDC4891 carries German Sieger'09 Melak Sauer. Therefore Ute Orplid is line bred on Ger. Sgr.'09 Melak Sauer (5;4), [a good many dogs behind him are unregistered, therefore little detail is available].

Rolf von Muggenkamp VDH/DDC18533 was out of Asta (wolsdorf) VDH/DDC18260 and she carries lines of Ger. Sgr.'09 Melak Sauer (4;6) and Ger. Sgr.'21 Prinz Fuchs [who carries Ger. Siegerin'09 Wanda Huber VDH/DDC2263] and line breeding on German Sieger'09 Tiger von Munchen VDH/DDC1410 (6,6,6;9,9,7,6) and Prinz von der Paulsburg VDH/DDC3615 (2;4).

Falter's dam Silva von der Waldschmeide VDH/DDC20879 was sired by Remo von der Waldschmeide VDH/DDC18511 whose sire Faust von Mecklenburg VDH/DDC9942 is inbred on Ajax von Mecklenburg VDH/DDC3491 (2;2) - Ajax is the son of Eva von Dornburg, [the foundation dam of Dornburg and Saalburg dynasties].

Faust is line bred on Eva v Dornburg VDH/DDC2695 (3;3,5,4). Eva is out of German Siegerin '10 Else vom Uellendahl-Dornburg and sired by German Sieger '11 Tasso vom Elsterlal-Dornburg.

Silva's dam Ilse Sauer is out of Ger. Sgrin'20 Hero (sperberg) and sired by Roland v Reisenfeld VDH/DDC3932 [a son of Ger. Sgr.'21 Prinz Fuchs VDH/DDC3733]. Ilse is also line bred in Ger. Sgr.'09 Tiger von Munchen VDH/DDC1410 and Ger. Sgr.'09 Melak Sauer VDH/DDC1470.

Leonie von der Stadt Hamburg VH/DDC28367 was produced by Ambra von St.Stephan VDH/DDC20532 a daughter of German Sieger '31 Ajax von Gilbach VDH/DDC16972, [the son of German Sieger '28 Pankgraf (gross) VDH/DDC13518, the son of German Sieger'26 Harras Sauer VDH/DDC7526 the son of Ger. Sgrin.'20 Hero (sperberg) VDH/DDC3650]. Ajax's dam was Zia (behrenbruch) VDH/DDC10633, a daughter of German Sieger'23 Pankgraf Sauer [another Ger. Sgrin'20 Hero (sperberg) son]. Therefore Ajax is line bred on German Siegerin'20 Hero (sperberg), German Sieger '21 Prinz Fuchs (4;5,4), German Sieger'09 Melak Sauer and German Sieger '06 Tiger von Munchen.

Amber v St.Stephen's dam Aphobi Grassenia VDH/DDC18406 carries German Sieger Rex Lendor v Zeltnerschloss VDH/DDC4534, Ger. Sgr.'21 Prinz Fuchs VDH/DDC3733, Ger. Sgrin'20 Hero (sperberg), Ger. Sgr'23 Pankgraff Sauer VDH/DDC4132, German Sieger'13 Alexander v Friedrichstein-Askania, German Sieger'10 Hasso-Jaus v Koingstor VDH/DDC2232, German Siegerin'12 Nelly-Walter VDH/DDC2449, German Sieger '12 Ciska Moguntia, German Sieger Zeau v Ohligs-Merscheid VDH/DDC1657, German Sieger '06 Ador-Colonial VDH/DDC1550 and is line bred on Ger. Sgr.'09 Melak Sauer VDH/DDC1470 and Ger. Sgr.'06 Tiger von Munchen VDH/DDC1410.

We see that this line of von der Stadt Hamburg is founded on pre-Saalburg dynasties of Ger.Sgrin'20 Hero (sperberg), Ger.Sgr'21 Prinz Fuchs and Ger.Sgr'09 Melak Sauer and Ger.Sgr'06 Tiger von Munchen. These are also the foundations of the majority of Great Danes alive today. Much of this post World War I breeding had a rather restricted gene pool and we would expect a strong concentration of dogs from the finest bloodlines. But, the continuous production of Siegers from the stock is a great tribute to the gene pool of this foundation stock and the gene pool that it produced.

Pia von der Stadt Hamburg VDH/DDC30697, the daughter of Leonie von der Stadt Hamburg was sired by Dodo von Dirkequell VDH/DDC27583, who was line bred on Ger. Sgrin'20 Hero (spergerb) VDH/DDC3659 (3,6;4,3) and Ger. Sgr'21 Prinz Fuchs VDH/DDC3733 (4;6,6,6,5,4). There is the addition to the line of Prinz von der Paulsburg and we also see more Ger.Sgr'09 Melak Sauer and Eva von Dornburg VDH/DDC2695. Therefore, we find that Pia is a continuation of breeding on the established Stadt Hamburg foundation lines that started with Falter von der Stadt Hamburg VDH/DDC24590.
Pia's daughter Quinta von der Stadt Hamburg VDH/DDC33806 was sired by Ferry von Wilhelmsrecken VDH/DDC29346.

In Ferry we see line breeding on Ispha Moguntia (full brother of Holland Sieger '30 Jagla Moguntia) and Ger.Sgr'26 Bodo vom Amalienborg thru his dam Alve von Wilhelmsrecken VDH/DDC26336, who is inbred on Ispha Moguntia VDH/DDC15509 (1;3) and line bred on Ger.Sgrin'20 Hero (sperberg) VDH/DDC3650 (5;5,6,6,8).

Ferry's sire Nelson Schmidthausen VDH/DDC27682 brings to the breeding again more Prinz von der Paulsburg VDH/DDC3615, German Sieger '12 Ciska Moguntia VDH/DDC2464 and Ger.Sgr'13 Alexander V. Friedrichstein-Askania VDH/DDC2500. ALso introduces to the line Ger.Ch. Gerd v Grunbach VDH/DDC2148, German Siegerin'10 Liesi Tipp-Topp VDH/DDC2231, German Sieger '29 Alex v Hohenthann VDH/DDC9863 [another grand son of Prinz Fuchs] and new line breeding on German Sieger'27 Ador v Amalienborg VDH/DDC6629 [another grand son of Ger.Sgr'20 Hero (sperberg) and grand sire of Ispha and Jagla Moguntia]. This brings more line breeding on Ger. Sgrin'20 Hero (sperberg) VDH/DDC3650 and Ger. Sgr'21 Prinz Fuchs VDH/DDC3733.

So, with the introduction of Ferry v Wihelmsrecken VDH/DDC29346 we see more intensified concentration of the bloodlines of Ger. Sgrin'20 Hero (sperberg) and Ger. Sgr'21 Prinz Fuchs. We also see additional building on the foundation progenitors of the Saalburg line - Eva von Dornburg, Ger. Sgr'20 Famulus Hansa VDH/DDC3367 and Ger. Sgr'12 Primus von der Rheinschanze VDH/DDC2098. Further, we see inbreeding now on Ispha Moguntia, brother of Holl.Sgr'30 Jagla Moguntia.

Carlos von Travestrand VDH/DDC37346, sire of Whisky and Wodka brings the Saalburg dynasty to the fore front. He is a color cross harle from fawn/harle breeding. The harlequin side is pretty much a return to the lines of the Stadt Hamburgs harlequin foundation breeding; which we will discuss later. The fawn side brings some heavy players to the table.

Carlos sire Grand vom Rissner Waldof VDH/DDC35016 is a fawn from the old Saalburg dynasty breeding. Son of Claus von Plattensee VDH/DDC32261 and Uschi von der Meissenburg VDH/DDC30882.

Uschi von der Meissenburg is the daughter of Arno von der Lohkoppel VDH/DDC29447 and Rita von der Meissenburg VDH/DDC29355.

Rita is line bred on: Ger. Sgr'25 Bosko von der Saalburg VHD/DDC4584 (3;5,6,5) and Bosko's sire: Ger. Sgr'12 Primus von der Rheinschanze VDH/DDC2098 (5,5,5,7;7,7,7,8,8,8,8,7,8,8,7,7); also Ger. Sgr'20 Famulus Hansa VDH/DDC3367 (6,6,6;6,6,6).

Arno von der Lohkoppel VDH/DDC29447 is line bred on Ger. Sgr'25 Bosko von der Saalburg (3;4); his sire Ger. Sgr'12 Primus von der Rheinschanze VDH/DDC2098 (6,6,8,5;6,6,5,6,6); Ger. Sgr '20 Tell App (6;7,6,7) and Ger. Sgr'20 Famulus Hansa (6,6;7,7,6) provide a more distant line breeding.

Claus von Plattensee is out of Blanka von Plattensee VDH/DDC29685 and sired by Zella von Kohlenstein VDH/DDC31464. Blanka is line bred on: Ger. Sgr.'27 Dolf von der Saalburg VDH/DDC8281 (5;4,4), his sire Ger. Sgr'25 Bosko von der Saalburg VHD/DDC4584 (6.5.4;5,5,5,4), his sire Ger.Sgr'12 Primus von der Rheinschanze VDH/DDC2098 (8,8,8,8,7,7,7,7,7,7,8,8;7,7,8,6,7,7,7,7,6,6,6); Ger. Sgr'20 Famulus Hansa (7,7,7,7;6,6,7,7) and Ger. Sgr '20 Tell App (6,7,7;7).

Zella von Kohlenstein VDH/DDC31464 is out of Aranka v Plattensee VDH/DDC28849 sired by Attila von der Lohkoppel VDH/DDC29446. Aranka is line bred on: Ger. Sgr. '27 Dolf von der Saalburg VDH/DDC8281 (4,4;4,4) and his sire Ger.Sgr'25 Bosko von der Saalburg VHD/DDC4584 (5,5;6,6,5,5). Attila is line bred on Ger. Sgr'25 Bosko von der Saalburg VHD/DDC4584 (3;4).

We see that this looks like distant line breeding when viewed separately as presented; but, if you string the line breedings in the fourth generation of the pedigree of Grand vom Rissner Waldhof together, this breeding is very intense on the line of Dolf Saalburg and his progenitor. It is this "background inbreeding" that has stablized the fawn strain to the point of near standard perfection and I certainly do not blame the von der Stadt Hamburg kennel for taking this route to stablize the traits in their harlequins.
Carlos' dam Bessy von der Oberalster VDH/DDC34046 was out of Regine von Stolzenburg VDH/DDC32322 and Ferry von Wilhelmsrecken (who we saw in Quinta's pedigree earlier), so let us concentrate on Regine.

Regine von Stolzenburg VDH/DDC32322 is out of Nora von Stolzenburg VDH/DDC31318 by Jubel von Stolzenburg VDH/DDC20063. We expect heavy line breeding within the kennel Stolzenburg and it's foundation. But, in it's place we see concentrations on more distant line breeding of the best post WWI dogs that Germany has to offer.

Nora von Stolzenburg VDH/DDC31318 was sired by Peter von der Elbhutte VDH/DDC28497 who is out of a brother/sister breeding of Zar VDH/DDC27348 and Zarte VDH/DDC27350 von der Elbhutte. Their sire was Jorg Funcken aon der Heide VDH/DDC24982 and dam, Asta von Schloss Waldhausen VDH/DDC24424.

Jorg Funcken von der Heide VDH/DDC24982 is the son of Marsa Moguntia VDH/DDC24858 [the son of Holl.Sgr'30 Jagla Moguntia bred to his dam Ute Orplid VDH/DDC10788] and out of Hera Prussia VDH/DDC20567 [a grand daughter of Undo Orplid - sister of Ute]. Therefore, Jorg Funcken von der Heide VDH/DDC24982 is linebred on the breeding of Ger. Sgr'27 Ador vom Amalienborg VDH/DDC6629 (4,3;4) and Ger. Sgrin'27 Christa Orplid VDH/DDC (4,3;4). Also there is line breeding on Prinz von der Paulsburg VDH/DDC3615, Pilord Viktoria VDH/DDC5813 [sire of Ger. Sgrin'29 Fauna vom Obertraubling VDH/DDC13578] and Ger. Sgr'21 Prinz Fuchs VDH/DDC3733. Jorg Funcken aon der Heide VDH/DDC24982 also carries Ger. Sgr'31 Emir v Forslensrieder Quelle and Holl. Sgr'30 Jagla Moguntia.

Asta v Schloss Waldhausen VDH/DDC24424 is out of Frieda von der Rodau VDH/DDC17018 by Seppl v Aarbachtal VDH/DDC19408 [another Holl.Sgr'30 Jagla Moguntia son]. Seppl is line bred on Ger.Sgr'27 Ador v Amalienborg (3;2,3). Frieda is out of Alma vom Wellenpfad VDH/DDC10176, who is out of another brother /sister breeding that was produced by Ger.Ch. Rex Lendor v Zeltnerschloss VDH/DDC4534 - (a Ger.Sgr'21 Prinz Fuchs son), out of a Ger.Sgr'20 Lord Tipp-Topp VDH/DDC3514 daughter. Frieda's sire Bertran von der Rodau is line bred on Ger.Sgr'20 Lord Tipp-Topp's daughter Lona Tipp-Topp VDH/DDC4532 (2;3,3) and Lord himself (4,3;4,4).

We find Asta von Schloss Waldhausen VDH/DDC24424 is the product of two tightly line bred dogs (with brother/sister inbreeding) that were outcrossed thru the 4th generation; but, again all lines falling back on Ger.Sgr'21 Prinz Fuchs VDH/DDC3733. We also note that Zarte and Zar are linebred on Holl.Sgr'30 Jagla Mogntia (3;3) and Ger.Sgr'27 Ador v Amalienborg (4,5;5,4,5).

Regine von Stolzenburg VDH/DDC32322 sired by Jubel von Stolzenburg VDH/DDC20063 an outcross in the first 4 generations who carries Ger.Sgr'33 Pankgraf Borussia VDH/DDC21198, Ger.Sgr'30 Dolf St.Magn, Ger.Sgr'26 Harras Sauer, Ger.Sgrin '27 Rita v Proskau and background [beyond the 4th generation] inbreeding on Ger.Sgr'27 Ador vom Amalienborg (5,6;6,5,5), Ger.Sgr Prinz Fuchs (7,7,7,7,7,6;7,6,8,7,7) and Ger.Sgrin Hero (sperberg) (7,7,6,7,5;6,5,8,7,8,7).

Again we find breeding on the dynasties of Hero (sperberg), with the addition of her extended dynasty of Ger.Sgr'26 Harras Sauer and his daughter Ger.Sgrin'27 Rita v Proskau and Ger.Sgr'27 Ador v Amalienborg. Intersting note that the Harlequin/Black German Siegers and Siegerins for 1926, 1927 and 1928 are all descendants' of Siegerin'20 Hero (sperberg) and Sieger '21 Prinz Fuchs.

In the background of Jubel we find consistant breeding on variations of the same theme of Hero, Prinz Fuchs, Ador Amalienborg, Bosko von der Saalburg and Christa Orplid [Jagla and Ispha Moguntia's ancesters] with variations of supporting characters Ger. Sgr'30 Dolf St.Magn, Ger. Sgr'26 Harras Sauer, Ger. Sgr'23 Pankgraf Sauer, Ger. Sgr'22 Prinz Mephisto v Brennhof, Ger. Sgr'27/28 Dolf von der Saalburg, Ger. Sgrin'27 Rita v Proskau and Ger. Sgr'13 Alexander v Friedrichstein-Askania. They all seem to come together time after time like a puzzle with repeating pieces.

To complete this analysis we must pull together the background inbreeding that is taking place to produce the "W" litter von der Stadt Hamburg. The front inbreeding is of course on Ferry von Wilhelmsrecken VDH/DDC29346 (3;2). In Ferry we see line breeding on Ispha Moguntia and Ger. Sgr'26 Bodo vom Amalienborg thru his dam Alve von Wilhelmsrecken VDH/DDC26336, Alve is inbred on Ispha Moguntia VDH/DDC15509 (1;3) and line bred on Ger. Sgrin'20 Hero (sperberg) VDH/DDC3650 (5;5,6,6,8). Ferry's sire Nelson Schmidthausen VDH/DDC27682 brings to the breeding again more Prinz von der Paulsburg VDH/DDC3615 and Ger. Sgr'13 Alexander V. Friedrichstein-Askania VDH/DDC2500; introduces Ger. Sgr'12 Ciska Moguntia VDH/DDC2464, Ger.Ch. Gerd v Grunbach VDH/DDC2148, Ger. Sgrin'10 Liesi Tipp-Topp VDH/DDC2231, Ger. Sgr'29 Alex v Hohenthann VDH/DDC9863 [another grand son of Prinz Fuchs]; line breeding on Ger. Sgr'27 Ador v Amalienborg VDH/DDC6629 [another grand son of Ger.Sgr'20 Hero (sperberg)]. More line breeding on Ger. Sgrin'20 Hero (sperberg) VDH/DDC3650 and Ger. Sgr'21 Prinz Fuchs VDH/DDC3733. With the introduction of Ferry v Wihelmsrecken VDH/DDC29346 to the von der Stadt Hamburg line we see more concentration of the bloodlines of Ger. Further, inbreeding now on Ispha Moguntia, brother of Holl. Sgr'30 Jagla Moguntia.

In the pedigree of the "W" litter there are in the 9 thru 11th generation over 33 crosses to German Sieger'25 Bosko von der Saalburg VHD/DDC4584, in the 11 thru 13th generation there are 129 crosses to Ger. Sgr'12 Primus von der Rheinschanze VDH/DDC2098, in the 7 - 12th generation 27 crosses to Ger. Sgr'27 Ador v Amalienborg VDH/DDC6629. In the 8th - 15th generation there are some 96 crosses to Ger. Sgr'21 Prinz Fuchs VDH/DDC3733 and in the 8th thru 14th generation some 63 crosses to Ger. Sgrin'20 Hero (sperberg) VDH/DDC3650. These are the dogs that this litter is truly line bred on and without recognizing them would be a great error. These dog make the majority of the contribution to the gene pool of this litter. Of course there are also many other lesser players that make significant contributions and we find them sprinkled liberally thoughout the above discourse. But, the major players are those which comprise the major portion of the gene pool itself.

Neither can we overlook the contribution played by Ispha Moguntia and Holl. Sgr'30 Jagla Moguntia in the original line of von der Stadt Hamburg and how they set the breeding strategy for building on both the Saalburg and Amalienborg dynastic lines and inbreeding of the original stock. It was this foundation that would allow:
1). continuous line breeding for many generation,
2). inbreeding on the great bloodlines without out-crossing; which helped:
3). stabilize the gene pool by establishing homozygous conditions,
4). establish and fixed type, stamping a style on all progeny and
5). strengthen the line with health and longevity.

You need a strong foundation if you are to accomplish those five goals in your breeding. A faulty foundation will not allow those five blocks of breeding quality, champion dynastic lines to function properly and the line will colapse upon itself in inbreeding or line breeding.
