The project is the extension from my Ph.D. research, which looked at the production of dairy starter cultures. Based on the same knowledge and principles, I am looking into the production from another side which is the lactic acid production instead of biomass. Utilising the knowledge on growth and lactic acid production kinetics and simultaneous product recovery, this project is attempting to develop a process that allows for continuous production and lactic acid recovery without the generation of the usual solid waste, gypsum. |
