CHAIRMAN’S REPORT:
Mr. Brunette reported that the committee has made tremendous progress.
He stated that, as chairman, he usually does not respond to Letters to the Editor about the
committee in the local papers, but that he recently responded to one from Niel Young in the Laconia Daily Sun because it attacked the integrity of the committee. Bob Kingsbury also sent a letter to the Laconia Daily Sun and the City Manager. The known information he requested was given to him.
SECRETARY’S REPORT:
On a motion of Richard Heinis, seconded by Linda Peary, it was voted unanimously to
approve the minutes of the July 24, 2003 Motorcycle Week Committee meeting.

Virginia and how welcome bikers were and how successful it was for bikers and the city.
OLD BUSINESS:
Public Hearing – Linda Peary reported on plans for the Public Meeting to be held on
September 24, 2003 @ 7 P.M. There will be a sign in sheet for attendees to sign their
name, address, and phone number. Comments will be written on an easel board and
there will be a 5-minute limit for comments,
NEW BUSINESS: No new business
PUBLIC COMMENTS:
Councilman Bob Luther introduced himself and suggested the committee send a questionnaire with the packet sent out by the City in December to the vendors. He
introduced Derek Bertocchi, owner of Bertocchi’s Towing and Al Raper, owner of Al’s Auto Service. They were concerned that from Thursday through Sunday of
Motorcycle Week all towing calls go to six companies from the Manchester area that are
standing by at a lot at St. Helena’s Church on Rte. 11 B. They wondered why the State
Police were controlling towing calls rather than the Laconia Police Department. Mr.
Raper said that he loses regular business during Motorcycle Week and would like to make some of that loss back through towing. This issue will be discussed further in
subcommittee with the local wreckers.
OCTOBER MEETING:
The October meeting will be held on October 23,2003 @ 7 P.M. in the City Hall
Conference Room 200A
ADJOURNMENT:
On a motion by Sharon Fleischman and seconded by Brenda Schmucker, it was unanimously voted to adjourn the meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 8:05 P.M.
Respectfully submitted: Sharon R. Fleischman, August 28, 2003
