MOTORCYCLE WEEK ADVISORY COMMITTEE

SIXTEENTH MEETING-WORK SESSION

June 3, 2004-6:32 PM

 

CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Peter Brunette called the meeting to order on the above date and time. 

 

MEMBERS PRESENT: Peter Brunette, Sharon Fleischman, Richard Heinis, James Joyal, Linda Peary and Brenda Schmucker

 

MEMBERS ABSENT

 

James Baird

 

CHAIRMAN’S REPORT:

 

Peter. Brunette informed us that the draft of the Final Report is not ready and that he will send it to us by E-mail as soon as he has it completed.

 

SECRETARY’S REPORT:

 

Linda Peary made a motion, seconded by Brenda Schmucker, to approve the minutes of the April 28, 2004 Motorcycle Week Committee meeting.  Mr. Joyal corrected under public comments 10-20 square feet to read feet squared.  The motion was unanimously approved as corrected.  Linda Peary made a motion, seconded by Brenda Schmucker, to

approve the minutes of the May 20, 2004 Motorcycle Week Committee meeting.  The motion was passed with one abstention.

 

 SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS:

 

1.  Public Safety and Infrastructure -Jim Joyal informed us that the city pays for    traffic   count of vehicles at various times of the day during Bike Week.  He also informed us that Meredith is preparing forms and setting regulations for Bike Week.     He suggested we    meet with their City Manager to see their plans and volunteered to do this.

 

2.      City Council Liaison-Linda Peary and Brenda Schmucker reported that they

attended a special City Council meeting on Bike Week.  They reported that the

      Council is requiring additional liability insurance for the Vintage Motorcycle      

Races, the Burn-out pit at the Broken Spoke was rejected due to noise and odors,

and the Dyno machine was approved during the hours of 9 AM-9PM.  Mr. Brunette asked  Ms. Peary to check into what additional insurance might be necessary for other events during Motorcycle Week and if the same standard of

insurance is required for other events.

 

3.      Laconia Rally and Race Association Liaison-Linda Peary and Brenda Schmucker

reported that they attended the past meeting and that the Bike Show and Vintage     Race were discussed.

 

4.      State and County Government-no report 

                                                                                                                        

5.      Local Businesses and Landowners- Mr. Heinis reported that he has not received the information he requested from the Weirs Action Committee.

 

6.      Vendors, Exhibitors, and Non-local Businesses-No report

 

7.      Event Model Research-No report

The next Motorcycle Week committee meeting will be held on July 14 at 6:30 PM.

On a motion by Richard Heinis, seconded by Sharon Fleischman, it was voted unanimously to adjourn the meeting at 7: 20 PM.
