CITY OF LACONIA MOTORCYCLE WEEK ADVISORY COMMITTEE

MEETING-JUNE 26, 2003-7:00 P.M.

 

CALL TO ORDER:

 

Chairman Peter Brunette called the meeting to order on the above date and time.

 

 

MEMBERS PRESENT:

 

Jim Baird @ 7: 25 PM, Peter Brunette, Sharon Fleischman,  Richard Heinis, James Joyal, Linda Peary, and Brenda Schmucker

 

 

REQUEST:

 

Mr. Brunette introduced City Councilman Jim Cowan who passed out two letters from The Belknap County Economic Development Council to the City of Laconia (one Attn. Mayor Fraser-one Attn. Eileen Cabanel) requesting funds and a proposed study of motorcycle week. This plan was presented at the council meeting 11/25/02 and was

rejected by council.  Mr. Cowan requested that the committee read these letters and the

proposed study and provide feedback.  The committee will review the letters.

 

 

CHAIRMAN’S REPORT:

 

City Departments MCW Debriefing

 

   Mr. Brunette will represent the committee.  If two members can attend, Mr. Joyal               

    requested also attending.

 

City Manager Liaison

 

    Mr. Brunette will be the liaison to the City Manager.  All requests to the City Manager

     should be done by Mr. Brunette .

SECRETARY’S   REPORT

 

On a motion of Ms. Peary, seconded by Mr. Joyal, it was voted unanimously to approve the minutes of the June 3, 2003 Motorcycle Week Committee meeting.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

 

Motorcycle Week 2003

Members shared  mostly  positive impressions from this year’s rally  as well as missed opportunities, complaints, observations, and suggestions.

 

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

Files:  The  committee will keep a  press  file,  a correspondence file, and a public comments file.

 

Schedule of Hearings For Public Comments: On a motion of Ms. Fleischman  and

seconded by  Mr. Baird  it was voted unanimously that Ms. Peary  format a public

meeting to be scheduled at a later date.

 

 

Subcommittees:  The committee approved the creation of seven subcommittees  as follows:

 

Public Safety and Infrastructure (Richard Heinis, James Joyal)

City Council  Liason (Brenda Schmucker, Linda Peary)

Laconia Rally and  Race Association Liason (Linda Peary, Brenda Schmucker)

State and County Government (Peter Brunette, Sharon Fleischman)

Local Businesses and Landowners (James Joyal, Richard Heinis}

Vendors, Exhibitors and Non-local Businesses (Sharon Fleischman, Jim Baird)

Event Model Research (Other, similar events) (Jim Baird, Peter Brunette)

 

 

ADJOURNMENT:

 

On a motion  by Sharon Fleischman and seconded by Brenda Schmucker, it was unanimously  voted to adjourn the meeting.  The meeting was  adjourned at 8:15 P.M.
