High School Years Epilogue Chapter 1
~Nick’s POV~
I stood in the familiar room that was called mine 25 years ago.
The room Jessica and I shared the years we spent together in High School. The room
our daughter…my daughter was conceived in…my grown up daughter, my baby who
very soon wouldn’t be my baby girl anymore. She’d be his…Caleb Avery…I hated
him, don’t get me wrong he’s a great guy…but nobody better for my little girl
than her daddy. I mean she’s my princess…and now she’d be his. I sighed, tried
putting it out of my thoughts and finished finagling with this damn tie I
couldn’t seem to get on right. I was just frustrated…that’s what Jessica told
me…I’d be okay, it’s just nerves. How does she know? That’s not her
princess…she’s still got her mama’s boy, they’re not married. Speaking of my
wonderful wife, she came in and looked just as beautiful as she did the day I
married her. For 39 years old she didn’t look a day over 25…I’m not just saying
it because she’s my wife. I mean yeah it would probably get me brownie points
but she’d really aged well.
“Baby, we’re going to be late…”
“So…” I grumbled…I had a lot of work to get back to at the
studio, yes the studio…6 years after Little Nicholas’ birth Jessica and I
together opened our own label and to this day it’d been a huge success.
“Oh c’mon Nicky…baby it’s our High School reunion, we didn’t go
to our 10 year, get a little excited for the 15 year.”
“Baby…I hated high school; the only good thing was meeting you
there.” She smiled. She walked over to me and finally fixed the tie I couldn’t
get tied and tied it. She sat next to me on the bed and I held her hand.
“It’ll be fun…I promise…” She leaned over and I kissed her.
After almost 20 years of marriage nothing died…the passion, the love, the
excitement it was all there.
“I know…let’s go.” I held her hand. “Hey…you look absolutely
gorgeous by the way…” I smiled and kissed her.
“Thank you baby…now relax tonight, take your mind of Sarame and
just have fun.”
“You’re right…I know…” We kissed one more time and said goodbye
to mom and her husband, Dominick Nicholas and of course the kids…well the ones
that hadn’t escaped all over town…they’re too cool for their old parent’s now.
The twins were 21…they’d brought their girlfriends with them and were
around…somewhere in town and Majenta was off painting her nails and listening
to her music, that’s her life…she’s such a girly girl and then Lola and Little
Nicholas were the only two actually at the house. Lola was just 16 and Nicholas
was only 14. Nicholas was doing his homework somewhere…he was the smart, smart
one in the family. Majenta was 18 and never home anymore, plus she’d just begun
college. We were all in
~*Jessica’s POV*~
We left and headed for the school. When Nick pulled into the
oh-so familiar parking lot I got butterflies in my stomach. I had no reason to
be nervous but I was. We walked through the front foyer doors and into the
auditorium. I immediately was met with tons of familiar and old faces. Nick stopped
along the way to say hi to a bunch of his old buddies real quick. We took a
seat and listened as the principal welcomed us all. Afterwards we went into the
cafeteria and found our reserved table. We had the option of reserving a seat
with specific people or just being sat anywhere. The only request Nick and I
had was to be sitting next to Tommy and his wife; even though they had never
hung out in high school they became friends in college and since then we have
continued that friendship. We sat down and Tommy and his wife found our table
soon after.
“Hey guys…” Tommy patted Nick’s back and gave me a peck on the
cheek.
“Hi Tommy…” His wife sat next to me and we were quickly
engrossed in a conversation. In the middle of listening to his wife my attention
was on the lady who took a seat next to my husband. I turned to Nick and he had
also lost interest in his conversation with Tommy.
“Nicholas Lachey…” She put her arms around him and hugged
him…too tightly for my taste. Her hands lingered there long after hugging him.
I tried keeping my cool and not blowing it out of proportion.
“Rachael…” Nick spoke after a minute, he tried pushing her away
but the weasel’s little arms were attached. She rubbed her arms along the
lapels of his jacket and I stood up. I walked over and stood next to him.
“Don’t you have another man to hit on? Preferably the SINGLE
ones!” I took her hands off Nick and he stood up.
“You haven’t let go of this bimbo yet…?” Nick was about to
respond when I stopped him.
“Stop…it’s childish to fight like this. Let’s just go dance.” He
nodded and the two of us walked into the gymnasium where the dancing was set
up. When we were dancing I laid my head against his shoulder.
“We’re not going to let her ruin this Nick…”
“I know…” He kissed my head and we just danced for most of the
night. We steered clear of Rachael as much as we could. She was by herself most
of the night which surprised me. I mean she ALWAYS had friends and people
hanging around her…the girls she used to hang out with hadn’t been near her at
all the entire evening. They were all having a great time with their
significant others. We sat down again at the table and another couple was
sitting there along with us. Rachael got up and left as soon as Nick and I sat
down. I overheard the couple sitting across from us as they spoke to Tommy and
his wife.
“I don’t know why she bothered showing up…I mean she has no
friends and she’s a slut. We all know she was back in school but rumor has it
she’s gone from married man to married man one after the other for the last 15
years. Nobody wants to be friends with a home wrecker.” I chuckled under my
breath and Nick did too. When some of me and Nick’s old friends’ came by our
table we sat and talked to them for a long time. They pulled out some pictures
of their kids so Nick pulled our tons and tons of pictures out of his wallet.
“We have 6 now…” I said proudly to Marissa.
“Wow, keep the Mrs. busy hey Nick…?” Mark patted Nick on the
back…such a guy. We all laughed and while pointing all the kids in the pictures
out Rachael walked by and stopped; I looked at Nick quickly.
“Who are they…?” She asked. Nick looked up at her.
“They’re my kids…” She looked crushed.
“You have more than just that 1 kid?” I chuckled.
“Yes, we have 6 kids…”
“Wow…” She looked down and was silent. “They’re gorgeous…I can
definitely see where their looks come from Nick.” She just stood there. “How
old are they?” I cleared my throat and spoke up.
“Sarame’s our oldest, she’s 22…” Nick cut in.
“She’s getting married soon…another reason we’re here.”
“Congratulations…I guess…” I continued.
“These are our twin boys Ryan and Zachary; they’re 21. This is
Majenta; she’s 18 and then these are our youngest…Lola, she’s 16 and the baby
in the family Nicholas…he’s only 14.” I showed her various pictures in Nick’s
wallet as I told her their names and ages.
“That’s a lot of children…”
“But they’re our life and very special…” Nick chimed in.
“I’m sure you’re such an excellent father.” She put a hand on
his shoulder and leaned over to kiss his cheek. “I’ll talk to you later…” She
walked away and I stood gently, Nick put his hand on my arm to stop me. I
looked at him and calmed a little as we mingled with our table. When the
evening finally died down Nick was tired and we had a lot to do still for the
wedding in the upcoming week. We said our goodbyes to our friends and then
walked to our car. He held a hand on my thigh the ride home.
“That was kind of fun…” Nick said.
“Yeah until Rachael showed up…‘oh I see where they get their good
looks from Nick.’ My lord…” I mocked her and Nick laughed at me. We got back to
his mom’s house and went straight up to our old room. Everyone was sleeping; I
got into bed and waited for Nick to join me.
“Ah…the memories of this room…” He sighed and got into bed
wrapping his arms around me. I giggled and kissed him. We made love before
lying in each other’s arms and holding each other.
“I love you baby…” He kissed my head.
“I love you too baby…” I snuggled deeper into his arms and we
fell asleep.

High School
Years Epilogue Chapter 2
*2 Weeks
Later*
~*Jessica’s
POV*~
“Mama…!”
“I’m coming…”
I hollered as I ran around the bedroom trying to get my shoe on.
“Mom…”
“Ma…”
“Mommy…!” I
heard three different shouts of ‘mom’ and looked at Nick who laughed at me.
“They love
you…”
“Ha-ha…don’t
be late!” I got my shoe on, gave him a kiss and left.
“Yes dear…” I
heard him hollering at me. I laughed and me, Sarame, Majenta and Lola met up
with Cate in the car to head to the church for the rehearsal. We were heading
down there early to work out some last minute glitches with the wedding planner
and the reverend. Five minutes before they were supposed to be there…yes five
minutes EARLY Nick, John, Ryan, Zachary and Nicholas walked through the church
doors. Nick walked over and kissed me.
“Wow baby
you’re early…!” I said proud of him.
“I know…don’t
get used to this.” I laughed. Where was Caleb…?
“Where’s
Caleb…?” I asked a little concerned…it WAS his wedding.
“He should be
here soon…he had to watch Emily earlier.” Sarame spoke up; Emily was his
sister…little sister. Just as the reverend began speaking to us all Caleb came
walking through the doors and jogged lightly up to the altar. He gave Sarame a
kiss and then a quick wave to us all.
“Sorry I’m
late…” He said quietly. The reverend began again with a few pointers and
comments and then we began rehearsing from the beginning. The run down of the
actual rehearsal went smoothly and we were out of the church in an hour and ½.
From there the entire wedding party (Me, Nick, Sarame, Caleb, Majenta, Zach
& Ryan, Lola, Nicholas, Nathan, Roselyn, Marie, Caleb’s parents &
grandparents, my parents, Nick’s parents, Lea & Drew and 3 of Sarame’s
friends from back home) A lot of people, I know…to make it easier and less
confusing:

We were
holding the rehearsal dinner at a nice restaurant named Samolies here in
“Lachey,
reservations for 29.” Nick said and I held his hand.
“Okay right
this way…” The young girl led us to a back private room where a long table was
set up for us already. Nick took my sweater and put it on the coat rack.
“Thanks
baby…”
“No problem…”
Just then Caleb and Sarame came in.
“Hey mama…”
She came over and hugged me, Nick shook Caleb’s hand and then Caleb hugged me
and Sarame gave Nick a hug.
“Everyone
will be here in a second, we met them in the parking lot, they’re on their way
in.” I nodded. Caleb and Nick were engrossed in a sports conversation, Sarame
and I sat at our seats around the table and talked about the wedding. Everyone
followed in minutes later.
“Dad…look at
this Ted Williams card Mr. Avery gave me!” Nicholas came in and showed Nick the
card.
“That’s great
buddy, did you thank him?” Nick asked looking at Caleb’s dad.
“Yeah…I did.”
Nick ruffled Nicholas’ hair and he screwed his face up. I laughed as he walked
away. We all sat down and the food orders were taken.
“So…excited
for tomorrow?” John looked over to Sarame.
“Of course…I
can’t wait.” She smiled and I smiled at her happiness.
“Nick…ready
to walk your daughter down the aisle?” I reached over and squeezed his hand
under the table knowing how hard it is for him to let go of her.
“I’m never
going to be ready to let her go but Caleb’s a good man so I know she’s in good
hands.” I looked over to him, smiled and kissed him. The rest of the evening
was filling with dancing, laughter and mingling. Nick and I made a toast to
Sarame and Caleb which of course put me in tears. Sarame, Nick, Nicholas, and I
left together. Zach brought the rest of his siblings back to Cate’s house. That
night Nick and I were downstairs watching the tonight show. Zach, Ryan, Nick,
Lola & Majenta were all sleeping. Caleb had just left after watching a
movie with Sarame.
“So are you
ready for tomorrow?” I asked cuddling into him.
“Yeah, as
I’ll ever be. She’s my baby.” I smiled and kissed him.
“She’s still
going to be your baby; she’ll always be your baby.”
“Yeah I
know…” He tightened his arms around me. “I love you.”
“I love you
too.” We kissed and were stopped by someone. We looked over and saw Majenta standing
in the doorway.
“Mom…dad…”
“Yeah
sweetheart?” Nick asked. She walked into the room and sat on the couch.
“I know I
haven’t been good at this whole visiting the family and being with you all for Sarame,
I have a reason for it.” We waited. It was true, Nick and I haven’t been happy
with Majenta for her lack of participation with the family but Majenta had
always been quieter.
“Well…” Nick
said. She looked nervous.
“There’s this
guy, his name is Dom and I’ve been seeing him.” Was that all? Nick and I looked
happy. She’d never been happy, or been involved with someone so to hear she was
made us happy as well.
“That’s great
pumpkin but what’s this have to do with it all?” Nick asked.
“He’s older…a
lot and he flew here when we did, I wanted him to be at the wedding and meet my
family. He’s been staying at a hotel near here and I am always with him.”
“How much
older?” Nick asked sternly and nervous.
“Nick…” I
stopped him.
“How much
older…?” Majenta looked down.
“29…” She
said quietly.
“Excuse me…?
This has got to be a joke, and if it is it is not very funny!” Nick was
standing and yelling.
“Baby, keep
your voice down, everyone’s asleep!” I tried calming him. Majenta was crying
and ran out the back door. I looked at Nick. “Nicholas, please…just go upstairs
and let me talk to her.”
“Jessica…”
“No, just
go.” He walked upstairs and I walked out back finding Majenta on the swing. I
walked over and sat next to her. She was crying and I hugged her.
“Mom…” I kissed
her head.
“Its okay
baby, daddy is just looking out for you.”
“I’m 18 mom…”
I looked at her.
“It doesn’t
matter, you’re his baby and he’ll always be worried about you.”
“I just want
you guys happy for me. I’m in love with him and even though I’m not perfect
like Sarame, Zach, Ryan, Lola and Nick, I’m still your daughter and I want you
proud of me.”
“Baby, you
are perfect. I love you…”
“I’m moving
in with him mom.” I took a deep breath.
“Dom and
I…I’m going to move in with him, he’s got a good job. He’s a doctor, he just
got a job at the hospital and I’m going to go back to college. I love him.” I
sat there and tried to take it all in.
“Majenta…”
“We already
planned it.” I nodded, she’s 18.
“Well you
better call him and tell him to be here early tomorrow for the wedding.”
Majenta smiled and hugged me.
“Mom…”
“Well I do
want to meet the man my daughter loves.” I hugged her and we headed back in.
“You head to bed; I’m going to talk to your father.”
“Thanks mom.”
She hugged me and headed to bed. I walked into our room and Nick was shockingly
smiling from ear to ear.
“What…?” I
asked.
“You didn’t
tell me…”
“Tell you
what…?” He stood and held out a box that I’d known all too well.
“We’re having
a baby.” ‘Where was that test box from? I know
it wasn’t from me.’
“Oh…well, I
wasn’t sure, I didn’t want to tell you in the middle of the wedding stuff.” I
lied. He gave me a hug and kiss.
“Another
baby…” He smiled.
“I know,
listen I need to go talk to Sarame quickly.”
“Okay, hurry
baby…”
“I will…” I
left the room and didn’t know what to think. I knocked on Sarame’s door and she
opened it.
“Mom…it’s
late.”
“I know, we
need to talk.” I spoke with the box in my hand. She saw it and smiled.
“Ma! Another
baby…?”
“Huh…?” I
said.
“You and dad
are having another baby?” I looked at her confused. She wasn’t pregnant?
“Oh yeah…” I
smiled and she hugged me.
“What did you
want to talk about?” MAJENTA!
“Oh nothing,
it slipped my mind. Go back to sleep…tomorrow is a big day.” I smiled and
walked down the hall to Majenta’s room, and I knocked.
“What is it
mom…?”
“Listen
honey, I know why you’re moving in with Dom and—”
“Mom, you’re
pregnant!”
“What…?” I
asked and she pointed to the box. Not her either?
“Oh
yeah…sorry…”
“That’s so
awesome mama!” She hugged me.
“What were
you saying…?”
“Oh nothing
important…just I can’t wait to meet Dom.”
“Thanks
mom…g’nite.” I stood there after she closed the door.
“What the
hell?” I couldn’t figure it out. Ryan and Zach’s girlfriends are here with us
but they wouldn’t use that bathroom…I walked back to our room and stopped
abruptly as I went by Lola’s room. No way! My
Lola? She couldn’t be…she’s my little miss innocent. Yet that’s exactly what my
parents thought about me at her age. I knocked on the door quietly and she
opened. Her hair was a little messy from sleeping on it and she wearing her
cute pink pajamas…the ones I bought her for Christmas, they had a matching
camisole that said ‘daddy’s princess’ and here I am wondering if she’s
pregnant.
“Mom…” She
said and I came inside. I sat on the bed next to her.
“Honey, I
have a question about this.” I put the box in our view. “Sweetie, do you want
to talk to me?” I looked at her and she looked scared. “Baby, its okay…” I
hugged her remembering exactly when Cate had done the same thing the first time
I’d gotten pregnant.
I was scared when she hit him right
after we told her I was pregnant, it wasn’t a real hit but still…it made me
scared; more scared then I was already. She sat next to me and reached for my
hand. I looked at her.
“Are you okay honey?” I nodded.
“Nick took me to the doctor’s
today…and we found out.” She hugged me.
“It’s alright sweetie.” I just cried
on her shoulder.
“I’m sorry; I don’t want you to be
angry. I never meant for it to happen.” She pulled back and looked at me.
“I’m upset sweetheart but I still love
you and Nick more then anything and I don’t want you hurt. When are you due?”
“End of January…January 28th.” She
smiled a little and hugged me again.
“Well we’re going to make sure you’re
taken care of okay?” I nodded. “And we’ll worry about school when we cross that
bridge, right now we need to worry about making sure you take care of yourself
for you and the baby.” I hugged her this time.
“Thank you mama…”
“You’re welcome hun…now go get
Nicholas for me okay?” I nodded. I went upstairs and told Nick mom wanted to
see him.
“Are you okay…?” He was worried about
me.
“Yeah…I’m okay.” He kissed me and went
downstairs.
“Mom, I
didn’t mean to…it was my first time, my only
time, I’ve never done it bedsides that one time.” She was crying so I just
held her.
“I know how
that works baby. It only took one time for me to get pregnant with Sarame.”
“Really…?” I
nodded.
“When I had
sex for the first time every, it was when I was 16 years old and we thought I
was pregnant but I wasn’t…the second time thought, I got pregnant with Sarame.”
“When you
were 16…?”
“Yep…I had
just turned 16 that summer.”
“Weren’t you
scared…?”
“Of course I
was scared, but your father never left my side.” ‘Liar’ I thought to myself
remembering just how alone I was when he was at school…partying among other
things. “Your father was always there for me, even thought he was in school.
And his entire family, especially grandma…they all helped me.” I kissed her
forehead. “And don’t worry, even though we haven’t shown our anger to you on
this yet…we will, because we love you and it is our job but we’re going to take
care of you and everything is going to be fine.” Another hug. “Now let’s get
some sleep, you and the baby need it. We’ll tell daddy after the wedding.” She
nodded.
“Night mom…”
I kissed her and walked to the door. “Mom…?” I turned. “Thanks…I love you…” I
smiled.
“I love you
too…” Then I headed for our room. Nick couldn’t keep his hands off me all
night; he was so excited about another baby. I sighed thinking about how he’d
feel when he learned the truth. I closed my eyes and fell asleep. The morning
brought upon absolute mayhem, the house was crazy.
“Mom my
earrings…” Sarame yelled from upstairs.
“Coming…coming…!”
I ran up the stairs and down the hall but stopped at the bathroom door and I
knocked.
“Lola…” A few
seconds later the door opened. She was still in her pajamas, hair was a mess
and her face was pale.
“Mom hurry…”
Sarame came running out the bedroom and stopped when she saw her sister, “Lola!
What’s wrong with you? Are you crazy? Get into your dress!” She kept freaking
out and yelling.
“Sarame…your
sister is feeling a little under the weather, just take your earrings and I’ll
be in there in a moment.” I handed her the earrings. She pouted and stomped off
down the hall. “Are you okay…?” She nodded.
“I just hate
this part.” I nodded.
“I know
sweetie…you jump in the shower, and get ready. I’m going to wake your brothers
up; they need to leave…soon.”
“Kay…” She closed
the door and seconds later I heard the shower starting. I walked into Zach and
Ryan’s room and immediately smelt the pot in the air; rolling my eyes I shook
them awake. Their girlfriends both lie by the boys each on their respective
sides.
“If you two
are high for your sisters wedding—”
“It was Ryan
this time.”
“I don’t who
it was, just get rid of it and get ready, we’re late.”
“Okay…” I
rolled my eyes and closed the door. They’re always partying and out having
fun…why their girlfriends enjoyed that was beyond me. I went into the next room
that Nicholas was in and he was already awake, ready and reading some
literature books.
“Hey
sport…ready for today?” He looked up and nodded. “Okay, once Ryan and Zach are
ready they’ll be taking you.”
“Okay mom…” I
smiled and closed the door. Sometimes I wonder how all my children were related
to me. With that thought I headed back to my room where Sarame was and finished
getting her ready.
“We’re almost
there…” I reassured her with a smile. “Okay…done. Now let’s get you and the
girls down to the church.” Sarame looked at me, smiled and hugged me. There was
a knock on the door. “C’mon in…” I hollered and Nick walked in. “You men need
to leave…”
“I know, I
know…I just wanted to have a talk with my daughter before I miss out on the
chance too.” I saw his eyes water as were Sarame’s.
“Well good
thing she’s got waterproof mascara on.” We laughed. “I’ll make sure the rest
are ready.” I hugged them boy giving the two of them space.

I looked at my
daughter dressed up and in her wedding dress…she looked like an angel. I sat
next to her on the bed and held her hand.
“Daddy are
you okay…?” I looked up at her and nodded.
“Yeah…just
thinking about you.” I looked up and smiled. “You’re so grown up.” I began to
tear up.
“Daddy…” She
smiled stopping me.
“No…no…honey,
just let me have my moment before I have to let you go.” She hugged me.
“Daddy…no
matter what, I’m never going to leave…I’m always going to be here but Caleb
will be with me.” I nodded.
“I know
that…it’s just hard, you’re my little girl.”
“I’m always
your little girl, I promise that’s never going to change.” She hugged me and
gave me a kiss. “I love you daddy…” I smiled and gave her a hug and kiss back.
“I love you
too princess…” We sat there a few more minutes before getting up and walking
downstairs.

“You look
great sis…” Ryan and Zach said. Everyone else cooed over her before piling
outside.
“Okay
guys…let’s go.” Ryan, Zach & their girlfriends all went in one car. Sarame,
me, Nick, Majenta, Lola went in the limo and Nicholas went with Cate and her
husband. The limo ride over was quiet…Nick and I kept bringing up the ‘remember
when’ stories which Sarame got sick of hearing but put up with us anyways. We
pulled up in back of the church.
“Here we
are…” She said smiling. Nick and I looked at each other and smiled.
“Yep…c’mon.”
We got out and helped her into the back room in the hall of the church.
“I’m going to
go check on the guys and I’ll be back to get you.” Nick said and Sarame nodded.
Not even ten minutes later Nick was back with a big smile on his face.
“Is Caleb
here? Is he okay? Is he ready?” Sarame asked Nick all at once.
“He’s
here…he’s doing fine and he’s already standing at the altar.” Sarame took a
breath and smiled. “We gotta go they’re starting…” I kissed Nick and told him
I’d meet him out there and then turned to Sarame and hugged and kissed her.
“I love you…”
“I love you
too mama…” I walked out and met up with the rest of the wedding party and we
all began to progress down the aisle. I took my seat to the left in the very
front and watched as everyone came down and then I heard it…the wedding march
and everyone stood. I stood up and saw the doors opening, and then I saw Sarame
holding tightly to her father’s arm. I smiled and my tears already began to
form.

“You ready…?”
I asked as the doors were beginning to open.
“Yes…” She
smiled and I smiled at her happiness.
“I love you
princess…”
“I love you
too daddy…” And then the doors opened and I held onto her tight. The wedding
march began and slowly…not slow enough for me; we walked down the aisle. I
looked and saw Jessica already in tears and then I turned my focus back to the
altar…we were already there and I looked up at the Reverend.
“Who gives
this woman to this man…?” He asked and I looked to Caleb, then Jessica and
finally my daughter. Holding back my tears I smiled at her and then Caleb.
“Her mother
and I do…” I managed to get out. I turned to Sarame and lifted her veil. With a
simple kiss on the cheek I smiled at her.
“I love you…”
She smiled big.
“Love you too
daddy…” I took two steps to my right and put her hand into Caleb’s, as I did so
I quickly shook Caleb’s hand.
“Take care of
her…”
“I will sir…”
I smiled and turned back to my seat…he will
take care of her…I knew that. I sad next to Jessica and immediately her hand
was in mine comforting me. I turned to her and smiled. We sat there the entire
time not taking our eyes off of Sarame and Caleb…the ceremony was beautiful.
When the ceremony ended the wedding party stayed back and took photos while the
rest of the wedding guests went onto the reception hall. As soon as we caught
up with Caleb and Sarame she hugged her mother and I shook Caleb’s hand and
then Caleb hugged Jessica and Sarame hugged me.
“That
ceremony was beautiful…absolutely beautiful. And you both look wonderful.”
Jessica said smiling. We took lots of photos and then spent the rest of the
night, until 11:30 mingling, dancing, eating and having a good time at the
reception. We said goodnight to Sarame and Caleb and they left with a promise
to call us tomorrow when they got into Barbados. Jessica and I went home
together that night and all the kids had long since gone home. When we got into
mom’s house Zach & Ryan were nowhere to be seen and the same went for their
girlfriends. Lola was on the couch with Majenta however and there was a man,
who we both assumed to be the Dom next to her. They heard us
and turned as Jessica and I walked into the room.

into the living room after a beautiful but tiring day and I saw Lola, Majenta
and some man next to her. ‘So this is the infamous Dom who DIDN’T show up this morning?’
I thought to myself.
“Hey mom…”
“Hey ma…” I
smiled at the girls.
“Um hi Mrs.
Lachey…” Dom stood up and reached his hand out to mine. I accepted it and shook
his hand back.
“Hello, you
must be Dom?” He nodded. I motioned to Nick. “This is my husband Nick.” Dom
reached his hand out to shake as well.
“Hello Mr.
Lachey…” Nick eyed him carefully. He wasn’t bad looking. He was tall, maybe an
inch or so shorter than Nick and he had dark brown hair, it was short. He had a
little bit of a goatee and he had brown eyes matching his hair. He was dressed
in black slacks and a white button down shirt with the top few buttons undone.
“It is nice to meet you; Jentie has told me all about you all.” He smiled and
looked at her. She stood up and wrapped her arms around him. I turned to Nick
with question.
“Jentie…?” We
both questioned.
“Oh that’s
Dom’s nickname for me.”
“Oh, I see…”
Was all I said. “Listen you guys just don’t make a lot of noise it is late.
Your father and I are going to bed, Majenta tomorrow morning I need to speak
with you.” I looked at her and she knew exactly why.
“Okay
mom…night…” She kissed me goodnight.
“Goodnight
honey…goodnight Dom.”
“Goodnight
Mr. and Mrs. Lachey…” Nick and I went upstairs hand in hand and into our room.
Once we got in there I knew I had to tell him about Dom and Majenta. We got
ready for bed and I snuggled up to him while he read some book.
“Baby…” I
said.
“Mmmhmmm…” He
mumbled.
“Do you like
Dom…?”
“He seemed
like a nice, respecting man.”
“Good because
he and Majenta are moving in together.” He closed the book.
“Excuse me…?”
I looked at him…he wasn’t happy.
“They’re
moving in together…”
“Yeah…no, I
don’t think so.”
“Nick…what
are you going to do about it? There’s nothing we can do.”
“There most
certainly is…I am her father and—”
“And what
Nicholas? She’s 18…we can’t do anything. Listen lets just give this a shot.”
“You’re
kidding me right…?” He got up.
“No Nick, I’m
not kidding!” I got up too. He headed for the door. “Nick where are you going?”
“Down there
to beat the hell out of that man.” I looked at him dressed in only his boxers.
“Dressed like
that…?”
“Yes dressed
like this…what you don’t like my boxers?” He opened the door and I followed
him.
“They’re adorable
that’s why I bought them for you just didn’t think they’d think it was cute.”
He ignored me and walked down into the living room.
“Dad…” Lola
and Majenta said upon seeing Nick. He walked over to Dom.
“If you think
for one second you’re taking my daughter then you’ve got another thing—”
“Dad…!”
Majenta got up and walked to Dom.
“Majenta get
in the kitchen and you…” Nick looked at Dom. Majenta looked at Nick.
“Don’t stand
here and yell at him! At least I’m taking the step of moving in with him before
getting knocked up and I’m 18 I’m not 16!” She screamed and I closed my eyes.
‘Dear God no…’ I thought to myself and turned to see Lola white as a ghost.
Nick turned to Majenta.
“Excuse
me…don’t bring your me and your mother’s past into this…!” He yelled.
“Maybe if you
weren’t so busy focused on me you’d know I was talking about your own daughter
and not you and mom!” Nick looked at me and I just looked at Lola, he followed
my eyes and saw who I was looking at.
“Lola…” He
said in a soft voice. She looked up and had tears falling down her face now.
“I’m
sorry…I’m a screw up just scream it why don’t you Majenta! I told you and you
promised not to say anything to anyone!” She ran up into her room and I started
to follow.
“What’s going
on down here?” Cate and her husband came down.
“Sorry for
waking you mom…”
“It’s okay;
gosh Nick put some clothes on.”
“Mom we have
bigger issues to worry about right now.”
“Like what…?”
“Nothing…” He
walked upstairs following me. “You two don’t move…” He said pointing to Majenta
and Dom. “You knew didn’t you…?” He asked as we went up to talk to her. I
turned to him.
“Yeah…” I
looked at him with tears in my eyes. He hugged me. “Nick, please, don’t go hard
on her…she’s just a baby herself.” He kissed my head.
“Let’s go
talk to her…” We walked and knocked on her door.
“Lola…” I
said quietly and she opened up. Her face was pitiful. “Oh honey…” I hugged her
and the three of us sat on her bed.
“Lola look at
me…” Nick said calmly. She looked up and Nick pulled her into his arms. She
cried and Nick just held her and rubbed her back.
“Daddy I’m
sorry…”
“Shh…are you
okay?” She pulled away and I looked at them.
“I’m just
scared…”
“Well don’t
worry; mommy and daddy aren’t leaving your side.” I leaned over and hugged her
as he said that.
“I love you
dad…”
“I love you
too buttercup…” He hugged her and kissed her head.
“I love you
baby…” I hugged and kissed her.
“I love you
too mom…” Nick and I stood up.
“Listen hun, you
get some sleep…your mother and I will talk tonight and then tomorrow after
everyone has rested we’ll talk okay?” She nodded and we stepped out of the room
closing the door behind her. We walked back downstairs and Dom and Majenta were
on the couch, Dom was holding a crying Majenta in her arms. Cate and her
husband were in the kitchen.
“Nick…” I
said to him and gave him a look. He nodded and walked over to them.
“Listen…I’m
sorry. She’s just my daughter and I’m protective of her.”
“I
understand…I mean I don’t know how I’d handle it if it were my daughter.” Dom
stood and Nick held his hand out to shake. Dom smiled, as did Majenta and I and
they shook hands.
“Just look
out for her please…”
“Of course I
will…”
“Alright
then…” Majenta smiled and jumped into Nick’s arms.
“Thanks
daddy…thank you, thank you, thank you…” He laughed and hugged her back.
“C’mon guys
it’s time to get sleep…it has been a long day. Majenta and Dom, go and take our
room…we can handle the living room tonight.”
“Thanks dad…”
“Thanks Mr.
& Mrs. Lachey…” Hand in hand they walked upstairs. I looked at Nick proud
and surprised.
“So…” I said.
“You’re not mad I didn’t say anything about Lola are you?” I looked at him. “I
didn’t want to ruin Sarame’s wedding that’s why I didn’t.”
“No, I’m not
angry but I have a question…” I looked up.
“And what
would that be…?” He wrapped his arms around me.
“You’re not
pregnant are you…? That…that test was from Sarame wasn’t it?” I sighed and
looked down…Nick loved babies…we’d even talked about one more but it never
happened.
“No…it was
hers…” He nodded and hugged me. “I’m sorry…”
“Hey,
hey…it’s okay…there’s always another time right? And in the meantime…we could
practice right?” I smiled and leaned down to kiss him.
“You don’t
think we’ve got the practice down yet…?” He pulled me onto the couch.
“Not a
chance…after all…practice makes perfect.” I laughed and kissed him. Maybe
everything going on with our children wasn’t so bad…kind of like a full circle.
Nick and I did it as teenagers and they’re just completing the circle…yeah
that’s it. The family is coming to a full circle.
The end!
