Lacey J's Attic of TreasuresLacey J's Attic of Treasures

My Mom. Quite the lady she is. She has two daughters (I'm the youngest) and three grandchildren. We're native of Missouri. She quilts, she crochets, she sews. She's teaching herself how to play the guitar. She listens to everything from Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn to Shania Twain and even Britney Spears and N'Sync. (I think those two are mostly my neice's doing.) She has enough medical knowledge to know not only how to look after people, but animals too. I remember plenty of nights she'd assist a dog in having a litter, or spend her evenings trying to nurse a failing pup, kitten or gosling back to health. She is the person I get my love for animals from. She has taught me so much, more than I can ever put here. So, it is with great pleasure that I bid you a very merry welcome! Please come in and grab some tea, coffee, lemonade-whatever your preference. Then pull up a chair and let me show you what my mother means to me.

This site is a gift for my mother on Mother's Day. Her name is LaDonna, also known as Lacey J, and this little corner of the virtual world is filled with items and prose I hope will bring not only joy to her, but sweet memories as well. Within these pages, you'll find some of her favorite songs playing in the background, as well as some of mine. ::grin::

*Please note I hosted the songs and the guestbook background on my site, which I own, i.e. I pay for the web space from Draknet and have built it from the ground up. The reason for me doing so is this site is hosted by Geocities, which doesn't allow me to use a background from this site in a guestbook nor would it allow me to put any music here (and have it actually play, anyway.) Just FYI before someone notices something downloading from there and decides to report it to the webmistress. I am Amethyst Moon Fyre, the webmistress. Thank you!

Sorry, Mom, I really, really tried to find "A bottle of wine and Patsy Cline" for you. I know how much you enjoy that song. It seems Marsha Thornton has disappeared from the music world! Instead I decided upon a couple of tunes by Patsy Cline herself to add to a couple pages. :)

I have noticed that on a few pages the music doesn't always begin once the page is loaded. While I try to fix this glitch, please reload the page if you would like to listen to the music while visiting. Again, I thank you!

"It was when I had my first child
that I understood how much my
mother loved me."

"There never was a woman like her.
She was gentle as a dove
and brave as a lioness.
The memory of my mother
and her teachings were, after all,
the only capital I had to start life with,
and on that capital I have made my way."

~Andrew Jackson

"A mother's love goes on and on,
even when her child is grown and gone.
God planted a Mother's love so deep
that the roots of it go deep and far into our hearts.
There is no place to resign, quit, or escape."

"A rich child often sits in a poor mother's lap."

~Spanish Proverb

"A mother understands what a child does not say."

~Jewish Proverb

"The joy of Motherhood:
What a woman experiences
when all the children
are finally in bed."

"No matter where you go or what you do,
your mother will always be behind you...
ripping her hair out."

"Avenge yourself:
Live long enough to be a problem to your children."
