| WE ARE MOVING TO TEXAS! |
| In the end of May, we are packing up and moving to Austin, Texas. Austin is booming much more economically and has much more jobs to offer than Cleveland will have or currently has. This move is NOT a saddened one. I am looking forward to waking up to beautiful sunshine and clear sky. I'm looking forward to the 322 days of sunshine a year. Though, I will miss my family (my parents & in-laws) and miss being able to just drive an hour or two to get to their houses. We have to do what is in the best interest of our children & our future. Ohio schools have really gone downhill over the past 10 years. And Texas schools have a much better education system. The teacher to pupil ratio is much better (14:1 compared to Cleveland's 27:1). The cost of living is 19% cheaper than in Cleveland. And basically, Cleveland is going nowhere fast! The job market is really, really bad in Northeastern Ohio. The unemployment rate has risen tremendously. It is in our better interest to pack up and move while our lives are relitively simplier and our children our younger. I am a really "outdoorsy" person. I enjoy being outside. There is a numerous amount of activities that I truly love are outdoors, such as swimming, hiking, taking walks, CAMPING, etc. I will be able to participate in these activities more now since I will be having nicer, warmer days. We made a trip to Texas in early April, just me & my husband. We were there for a week and used our time checking out the area, putting in applications to many area businesses, getting familiar with the neighborhoods, attending job fairs and interviews and talking with the locals. We loved it so much there. Do you want to see what it looks like there? Click here for photos of Austin! My husband, Dave landed an excellent job working for a fortune-500 company called 3M, right in Austin. He got a job position being the Assistant to the Regional Vice President of Marketing. It is a first shift position and has an excellent benefit package. I am going to transfer within my company to another position. I am still working for NeighborCare Phamacy, just in San Antonio, Texas (rather than Broadview Heights, Ohio). I am going to work 2nd shift (2:30PM-11PM) rather than my current job as third shift (6:30PM-3AM). So, I am going to be more alert and less of a zombie all the time. Here are some current nationally printed articles about Austin. Please take a few moments to read about them: Best Places to Live: Austin listed #1 in the big cities category Austin #1 in Technology Austin is a scenic city that combines the best of Texas prarie and scenic hill country. With hills, creeks, parks, and a river flowing through the heart of a town with oak & pecan trees. Many people just can't believe they are in Texas! - In the bestseller, The Rise of The Creative Class, Austin was noted as the second most sucessful US city in attracting creative types. - Austin ranked number one in the survey of the country's best large markets for relocating families (according to the Worldwide Employee Relocation council). Why? Austin clinched the title because commute times are lower on the national average, there is NO state income tax, housing prices have leveled off, average income is high relative to the cost-of-living and the Austin has the third highest expected job-growth in the country! SO, WHAT DO THE KIDS THINK? They love it! Jonathan is very excited to move to a new place and new friends. Well, I will write more once we move there!
