| Appearance The outercoat is short,strait,and very dense;the undercoat is soft and weather resistant.Coat color is Black,Yellow,or Chocolate,sometime with a small white spot on the chest.The tail is otterlike,thick at the base,tappering towards the tip. Grooming &Exercise Needs Labradors need to be brushed onece to twice a week.They need alot of exercise daily vigerous walks and an oppertunity,preferably daily,to romp and retreive balls in a secure open area.They love water and in all fareness should be taken to swim and retreive in a safe area on a regular basis.Field stock is generally much higher in energy that show stock. Origins The Labrador originated in the 19th century in Newfoundland(not Labrador),where it was used by fishermen to pull in fish filled nets by retreiving the attached cork floats.
