Recyclable labels, which can be used on 95% of plastic moulded components currently used in the electronics industry, have been launched by Labelgraphics. The labels are made from one of 3M's latest materials - Scotchmark 8000. It means that for the first time covers, machine housings and similar parts made from plastics can be recycled without the time consuming, costly and often difficult task of removing labels first. Until now it has been necessary to remove identification and other legally required labels prior to recycling plastic components as the pigments, films and adhesives were not compatible with the recycled plastics. Scotchmark 8000 is 100% recycling compatible. "The economic and ecological advantages to the industry of recycling are well established," commented David Hume, Sales Director at Labelgraphics. "Using labels from this material will make the recycling of plastic products easier and more cost-efficient. We've been waiting for the coating industry to come up with a material that will recycle completely for this industry sector, and now it has arrived." |
