Case
Study
OUR TASK: A set of three labels are required for the Ballantines Limited Edition whisky - one each for the bottle front and shoulder, and one for the interior of the special presentation case. Each label in the set of three requires a consecutive Bottle Number to be printed, a requirement that would be unfeasable on a regular printing press. The labels must also reflect the quality and prestige of the product. OUR SOLUTION: The labels were printed on a conventional press using a background tint and two colour process, then die cut into sets. The Bottle Numbers were then created using label design software, and overprinted using a Sato thermal printer with blue coloured thermal transfer ribbons. Considerable time was spent matching coloured ribbon and label material, as well as the precise printer settings to achieve a mottled 'stamped' effect for the numbering. "I had the opportunity to view the labels mounted on the final product, said David Neil, Sato operator at Labelgraphics "The end result was superb." |
