| News | "New Arsoma Spearheads Growth"

Part
of a £1 million investment programme, the new £400, 000 Gallus Arsoma
label printing machine installed by Labelgraphics at Clydebank will give
the company the opportunity to widen its customer base and provide existing
clients with a greater range of options. "Using different combinations
of screen and uv flexo technology all in one pass, the machine can produce
multi-colour labels in up to nine colours. It is also equipped for rotary
hot foil printing at fast press speeds," says the firm's Scott Finlayson.
"The Arsoma gives our clients' designers much greater freedom. Too often
in the past, design concepts have had to be modified, sometimes quite
drastically, to meet the constraints of the printing process. Many of
the more complex designs have required two or more passes on different
machines, which is both slow and expensive. With this new machine we can
combine different processes in one pass," says Mr. Finlayson. Its facility
to manufacture clear "no label" labels has found a ready market among
white goods manufacturers and in the electronics industries. The new press
will produce labels for a wide range of consumer applications - foodstuffs,
cosmetics, medical products, white goods and bottled drinks. The firm
is now embarking on an up-grade of its in-house repro facilities, and
will offer customers the opportunity of linking their own design teams
to the technicians in-house to ensure the best possible label results.
Labelgraphics is also considering installing digital printing equipment.
Total spend will be another £600, 000.
