QUERY:- I am interested in the veracirty of claims that LUCY and father EUDO are descendants of CHARLMAGNE. I Have many pedigree charts which claim this to be true, but I am wary of their authenticity. If there is a possibility, I would like to actively persue the necessary research. Any help would be great. Thanks, Debbie.

QUERY:- I would be extremely interested to know if anyone can help me with a Zouche problem. I was given a family tree which states that Joan Zouche ( daughter of Sir Oliveus La Zouche, Knight) was married to John Bysh (died c1494) of Burstowe. I have looked everywhere to find a genuine Zouch/Bysse connection so that I can link these together. I would appreciate any help.

SURNAME:- SOUCH (HENRY) TAYLOR (ELIZABETH)

PERIOD OF TIME:- 1814 on

LOCATION/COUNTRY:- Ramsden, Finstock, Northleigh

RESEARCHER:- Michael Daldry

ADDRESS:- Not Advised

WEB PAGE:- None

QUERY:- I have an interest in the family of Henry Souch, who

married Elizabeth Taylor in Ramsden, 1814. Their eldest son Emanuel was Baptised and buried in Finstock, 1815/16.

The subsequent children were all baptised in Northleigh:-

Mary Ann baptised 1818

Caroline baptised 1820, buried 1820, 4 weeks old

Sarah baptised 1821

Selina baptised 1824

Charlotte baptised 1826

By November 1829, Elizabeth Such is noted as a widow in Blockley, Worcestershire, when she had a son, George Park Souch. What became of Henry and what are his origins?

An extensive search of SOUCH/SUCH/ZOUCHE burials has been carried out from the Oxfordshire Parish Register Transcripts for Parishes in and around Northleigh, Ramsden and Charlbury.

{ I have a database of bapt/burials & marriages for 19 parishes for this name.}

SURNAME:- ZOUCHE/BYSSHE

PERIIOD OF TIME:- 1370-1380

LOCATION/COUNTRY:- ENGLAND

RESEARCHER:- Alison

ADDRESS:- Not Advised

WEB PAGE:- None

QUERY:- (1) Some of the Zouche family bore the name of Mortimer. Did this family support Richard III?

QUERY (2):- Lord John Cotton ( founder of the British Library), in a manuscript, gave a description of the arms of the family which is given in abstracted form in Burkes Peerage. He mentions Sir Oliver La Zouche of Leicesetershire, but the time frame is earlier than the Sir Oliver that I am seeking, who would have been born circa 1370-1380. Cottons description of the arrangement of the bezants and chevron ermine in the arms appear identical configuration on a Bysshe tomb at Worth Church in Sussex, so somewhere there has to be confirmation of the statement that John Comber made in his Sussex Genealogies,Ardley Centre, that John Bysshe married Joan La Zouche, daughter and heir of Sir Oliver La Zouche. Thomas La Zouche at one time (1300) owned the Manor of Ightham in Kent. The family also owned lands in West Sussex.
