Returning to La.29, the bobber kept pulling.
I've always liked cattle guards, that bridge made of pipe which prohibits cattle from crossing. Why? My father discoverd this when I was very, very young. It was the only place on our adventures where I would, hum, "p". I have since expanded my list of acceptable places, natural and unnatural.
All these POI's are within a short throw of a motorcycle parking spot.
Above, the little green house is hard to see. This is an orchard of some kind.
Below is the Whiteville Chapel Methodist Church. Awesome. Look in the article about Old Stuff.
Soybeans
This home, south of Bunkie, has intrigued me to the point of almost approaching the owner to ask for a picture. I could go up there under the pretense of being interested in that tractor he has for sale. The red Spanish tile is the draw. I just know this house is really old and has historical significance.
I stopped to look down the Boeuf one more time. This bridge was built in 1966. There was another one, evidenced by the cement on the far shore. We already know that a railroad was near. Was that old bridge a train bridge or for vehicles or both?
Along with the greens, we have the best chocolates in the world.
Central Louisiana farms are "plantations", too. Calling a farm a plantation is like calling a car a Cadilac instead of calling it a Chevy. No "Farmer John", here. The owner is Mister, mister. Or in antebellum times, "Master". Often "Master" is now the wife's title.
The "Big House" can be simple these days.
What is that? No info on that fish.
Another taste of chocolate? You can't resist it, can you?
I had turned down La.1175 which crosses the bridge where the above picture was taken.
It dead ends at Gold Dust Loop. What spawned that name? I have my own guess.
The loop follows the Boeuf on the north side. The views were golden.
Why are bayous romantic? Below may be a hint.
