"Yeah, well, what are friends for?" "No, I mean it" she insisted, putting a hand on his arm. "And you make me want to be a better person." He nodded seriously. "I'm glad." They looked at each other for a long moment. Greenlee licked her lips and slowly started to lean toward him. Suddenly she yanked back. "Do you need anything?" she asked. He shook his head no. "Then I should probably go," she said softly but determinedly, standing up. "Um- I wanted to tell you that I'm sorry David Hayward went free the other day." He shrugged. "There's nothing we can do." She smiled at him in disbelief. "How do you just accept that?" "Because I have to," he said simply, giving Greenlee something to think over as she let herself out. |
