Mission “Mother of God”

has reached its first objective.
The children already have their own house, “dim ditey”.

The dining-room will be open at the end of the renovation,
this Easter in April, for a maximum of 20 children.

Schedule of the project:
-   purchase of the house, 30 October 2001
-  renovation, from 18 February to 18 April 2002

 Active contributors:

* advisors: Diocese, Dominican friars

* reconstruction works are performed by the Ukrainian company “Dobrobud”

* Ukrainian volunteers: Dominican Youth and friends of the mission

* benefactors from different countries of the world

 Dim  Ditey has ample space for the children outdoors in the open air,

                   but insufficient space indoors for the winter.

 We’d like to build rooms where children could receive 

“supplementary education” based on:

• physical recreation (games & sport)
• plastic arts, theater, music, singing and folklore
• study of Latin languages
• computer science, reading and visual means 
• manual activities, sewing, embroidery etc. 

 

Duration of the project: from April 2002 to September 2003, 
if there are resources.

 « Dining room »       

Is a social and educational project.

 ·        Social, because its first objective is to recuperate children

      who lack family life or suffer from physical or psychological

      difficulties  as a result of radioactivity from Chernobyl,

      by giving them adequate nourishment.

   ·        Educational, because it is the means that helps us to get into

      contact with a child in order to establish the relationships

      of confidence and love, that will help them to be open to the values

      of the kingdom of God and of their human dignity.

      In this way a child will receive integral education for life.

 We have collected:

- for the purchase of the house 51.300$

- from October till today 6.000$

Future projects: Expansion in three stages.

1st  -   Chapel, dining-room for 50 children, administration office and toilets.

2nd -   Library, study room, rooms for sisters and collaborating youths

3rd  -  Attic, with the room for games in winter, laundry, drying and ironing room.

 General estimate: 140.000$
