Hello, my name is Dennis, and I'm going to give you some tips on how to build a poetry web page for free using Yahoo Page Builder.

First you have to sign up for a free email account with Yahoo. Then, using your user name and password, go to Geocities and sign in. The web address is:

http://geocities.yahoo.com/v/pb.html.

When you sign in, you will be asked if you wish to launch Page Builder or use the page builder templates. The choice is yours. Myself, I use Page Builder. It's quite an easy option; not quite as easy as Page Builder templates, but you have more choice on how the page will look.

After clicking on Launch Page Builder, wait a few minutes and a page will load. You will be presented with a blank white page with a menu at the top containing the words (NEW) (OPEN) (SAVE) (PREVIEW) (MODIFY) (DUPLACATE) (DELETE) (ORDER) (TEXT) (PICTURES) (LINK) (ADD-ONS) and last but not least (HELP).

The first thing you have to do is click on (ADD-ONS) and you will be given a sub menu. Click the top far right button Background, then on the word 'backgrounds;' and you will be presented with a list of ready made backgrounds for your very first web page. By clicking on each one you will be shown a small picture of what that background will look like.

When you have chosen one, click on (ok) and your background will appear on your page.

Now that you have your desired background, you can add your poetry. Click on the box marked (TEXT) and a blue diagonal box will appear. This box can be made any size you like by pulling on any of the blue dots that can be seen top and bottom and at each corner.

In the top left hand corner of the page you will see two drop down menus, one for type of text and one for size of text, twelve being the smallest size and thirty-six being the largest size. Set the size and type of text you wish to use then pick the colour by clicking on the small (T) with a little colour pallet by the side of it. You can also use a fill colour if you wish by clicking the box next to it.

When you have typed your poem and got it just as you want it to look save the page by clicking on (SAVE), typing a title for your poem and clicking the word 'save' in the box below the menu. When the page is saved you have the option to view the page or carry on working with it.

If you wish to put a title at the top of your poem click (TEXT) once again, and, using the same method as before, type your title and, by holding down the left mouse button over the text, move your text above your poem. You can use this method to move anything around your page if you so wish.

To make sure everything on your web page is centred, click on (FORMAT) at the top of the page and then on (PAGE PROPERTIES, then tick the two boxes marked Centre Page and Layered HTML. This makes things look a lot better. You can also alter Width and Height of your web page by changing the numbers in the boxes, but only do this if you need a bigger page for your poem.

OK, now when you have your poem looking once again how you want it (SAVE) it once again. I save my pages after each time I have changed something on the page. Just in case your computer goes down, then you wont loose any work you have done; as when you load page builder again everything will be just as it was.
