A Hint Of Forever
After you leave, I will become a lover
of sun and wind alone on a hillside.
I shall grow tall and strong, sheltering birds
and other bright-eyed things. Lavender hills
I live with now keep their story from me.
No trees tell water in this land except
dark brush hidden in draws. Just for a moment,
like tablets in the rain, words run together
and I become the cold moon, a hint of forever,
whose only light shines upon lone waters.
Every moment of every day, I'll miss you
with the passion of the wind, gazing
endlessly upon the way, that without you
must empty,
empty wind.
