| I was born and raised in the Phillippines -- born into a big family with lots of extended brothers and sisters. My parents taught my brothers, sisters and I, kindness and generosity by the very example of their lives. They have opened our home and embraced anyone who needed their help - in anyway whatsoever. Even if we did not have much, my Dad was always willing to give it up to help others. As a young child, I did not understand it - I wanted toys and lots of it. But as I got older, I began to understand & realize how very blessed I am to have the kind of parents that I do. |
| I didn't get to experience the true California life until I moved to Orange County in 1995. I've been living in the Irvine/ Newport Beach area now for several years and I completely love it. There's just something about being near the ocean that calms and relaxes my mind and body. I work in the IT Department of a Santa Ana based computer peripheral manufacturer, where I've worked for about 7years now. | After a while you learn the subtle differences between holding a hand and changing a soul..... You learn that love does not mean learning..... Company does not mean security... You begin to accept defeats with your head up and your eyes open, with the grace of an adult and not the grief of a child. You learn to build your roads on today, because tomorrows ground is so uncertain. You learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much.... \But above all, you learn that you really can endure....You really are strong....And all really was worth it. |
| Life in the U.S. is so different, but we kept our home life as close to as how it was back "home". We ate together - it has always been a rule in our home that when it is time to eat, everyone must gather around the table. So you won't see anyone eating in front of the TV :-) We also prayed together, and made sure that we got to spend quality time as much as possible. Our family just loves to laugh, so whenever we are gathered together, for sure laughter is what you'll be hearing. |
