| My daughters first concert(my first in almost 15 years) Sunday, August 21 is a day I will never forget. I took my 11 year old daughter to her very first concert. BSB in KC. I have to credit her with getting me into BSB. It started out as me being a good mom and finding out about this "guy group" she was always talking about and wanting the CD of. That was almost 7 years ago. Due to cicumstances (money, job, location, etc.) we've never been able to see the guys live before. So, when I found out they were gonna be in KC, I worked all the overtime I could, scraped up every penny I could find, and did whatever I had to do to get those tickets! But, get them, I did. And I have been "SuperMom" in my daughters eyes since that day. Sunday night could not come quick enough for her. Our seats weren't great, but hey, we were there! We actually saw the guys come through the door behind the stage right before the show started. At that moment, I looked at my child, my little girl, my soon to be "too cool to be seen with mom" kid, and the look on her face was worth more to me than all the money in the entire world. Nothing could mean more to me that having those 3 hours with her. Singing, dancing, yelling, whistling, singing some more......and my daughter was almost as bad as I was! Things aren't exactly easy for the daughter of a single mom. She's had to forego a lot of things because we couldn't afford it or I had to work or whatever. But she's a great kid. I do my best to stay connected with her. The older she gets, the harder it is. But, for almost 7 years, we've been able to share Backstreet with eachother. Sunday night was the culmination of 7 years of fun. The show was great. The album is great (I love "Poster Girl" and "Weird World" the best). The guys are fantastic ... and real. They're real people, with real issues. And God love them for that! So, I want to say "Thank you" to the Backstreet Boys for all the great music and for helping me stay connected to my daughter in a very weird world. And, for giving both her and I a memory of a lifetime! I thank you from the bottom of my heart, as does she. P.S. Loooooove the video for "Just Want You To Know" !!!!!!! The last concert I went to (Motley Crue - Dr. Feelgood tour) looked almost exactly like that video! Those were my peeps, back in the day. |
