TEN RULES FOR PACKING A SUITCASE
- The suitcase has a finite volume, your cloths do not.
- Socks = 'No More Gaps' (Gap filler).
- Do not try to pack like you pack your drawers, it won't work.
- Weight limits were meant to be broken.
- You can always find a better packing configuration.
- At the interface between the two piles in the suitcase, bottles can be packed. I recommend alcohol, it is better value for weight, but likely you will have finished it by the time you finish packing. Do NOT pack the empty bottles.
- If the suitcase doesn't shut, sit on it. If it still doesn't shut, you're in trouble.
- Once it is shut, lock it up and shove a luggage strap around it. Do NOT try to open it again. If you have forgotten something, it can go in your cabin bag.
- If all else fails there are certain things you can live without, like that extra pair of jeans, and certain things you can't live without, like that supply of sugar (you try travelling 24hrs with nothing but the dog feed they serve on planes).
- Above all else remember do not panic about time, or severe lack there of, if it wasn't for the last minute nothing would get done.
