Long time no writing... Been pretty slack havent I. It is midnight here so I suppose it is actually Thursday, but I might make another post at a more reasonable hour and I cant call them the same thing now can I?
Anyhow folks, Ill give you a quick update of all that has been going on here. Firstly, I spent my Easter break in Andalucia. Secondly Ive had heaps of public holidays. Thirdly I have a library card for the public library, but NOT FOR THE UNI LIBRARY... NOT HAPPY JAN ABOUT THIS! Finally several letters and stuff have been return with the wrong postage... I AM GOING TO KILL THE CHICKS AT THE POST OFFICE... I dont know how much money I have wasted because of this... GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.... Several have made it all the way to Singapore before getting sent back... Can you believe that! Like the first place they think to check for postage is Singapore!
Anyhow, enough of my raving, let me tell you about Andalucia. My friends and I visited Sevilla, Crdoba and Granada. Sevilla had fantastic weather and lots of gardens which were beautiful. The alcazar was lovely too and the architecture of the cathedral... Talk about eccentric! Have lots of photos... Will be up soon.
Crdoba was rather chilly, but the Mosque was fantastic, red and white/yellow arches everywhere. Pity about the Christian/Gothic alterations. The alcazar was also pretty fantastic. There was a section being excavated (there was in Sevilla as well), in fact there seems to be quite a bit of work for archiologists in Europe.
Next Granada, where it rained for the first two days we were there. The days that we went and saw the alhambra. I LOVED the alhambra. It was amazing. The views from the fortress sitting on the cliff edge... Granada was definately my favourite city. My friend Miriam said that it is so rare, and really bad luck that it rained for the first two days, apparently it doesnt usually rain much at this time of year particularly in Andalucia. I have a lovely book on the alhambra and an object of amusement for my family... Cost a lot to let me tell you... And if you promise not to make copies I might even show you...
With the start of the sunny season here we have had heaps of tourists... I really dont like tourists... Right at the moment I need a shirt that reads - "Te parece que you s adnde voy?" - Do I look like I know where Im going? Ten times this week I have been asked for directions... Can you believe it... I dont even look Spanish... This is the gal who always, always gets handed an english map when she asks for one in spanish... What is with these people???
