My grandpa was in w.w.II in that picture. He would tell me about the war all the time (because he knew i found it very interesting) , until he had a stroke. After the stroke everything changed . He could'nt remember anyone or anything from his past.
This is one story i remember in perticular. He said,"he was out in the dark by himself and getting tired. He crawled in the shelter where he would be safe to sleep. He was woke up by some strange voices. They were German soldiers talking. He snuck out as quick as possible and hid behind an log fallen from an explosion . His heart was beating so hard and fast that it was almost as if the germans could here it.They were getting closer and he was starting to panic, then they stated marching away"...
I will always remember my papaw and how he was so funny and could always cheer me up , but most of all i will remember all his stories about hard times of wwII and of the hard ships of growing up in a big family.
In Loving Memory Of Nick Clyde Combs sr.
