| This is my story, the character in this are mine, Especially Dark and Dryakus, my two Kawaii bishounons <hearts in eyes> They belong to me <Stands firm and tall, with arms crossed just below her chest so the two boulders have support, looking very much like a warlord.> But you may use them so long as credit is given to who it is due, but remember they are mine! I own them. They belong unto me. Dark awoke to shouts and he was up and out the tent flap before he was even awake. He looked to the sky as he walked to the nearest cliff, shouting out orders on his way. This was it he realized as he watched the skies darken with the promise of the enemies. Even though it was in the twilight before dawn, the night sky was still dark, but the light of the stars was blanketed out by something other than clouds. They were about to have their first battle in a long time, and now the fight was hopefully more even with his battle plan. He heard Dryakus behind him finalizing his orders with added details. The mages were to be on the ground with the long-range fighters. Warriors were heading to the hills at a fast paced run, to ride dragon and griffin back, with the magically imbued weapons that were created for this battle. Dark briefly wondered if this would be his last battle, as he topped the hill and took to his dragon, a small but fierce black chromatic dragon. This was also one of the fastest of the dragons, like none other in his service, this one reached face pulling, and break neck speeds. He just hoped he didn't break his neck, or any other parts of his being. Rekia, the black dragon of Dark's choosing greeted it's master with a shrill cry, lowering it's self so he could mount it. Dark did so, and looked to see Dryakus handing Kya his final orders before she took off for the cover the ground forces would be using. This was going to be so much fun, he thought to himself as he urged his dragon to the skies above, his forces following suite. They flew around for a moment, it would take that long for the enemies to clear the clouds that had formed sometime in the night. Once they were visible the armies would unleash their assault. The huge ship entered their sight, it was that moment when one could only gaze in horror at the size of it. Dark stared at it while he summoned words to an ancient and powerful spell. It was a ghastly unclean shade of black and gray, while coloured lights were on it everywhere giving it a air suffering. It was a very foreboding sight and many looked as if they would run and hide. Dark steered his mount with a charge and unleashed a powerful spell. White light, like a lighted mist, with tails following in their wake. Twenty of these like spells took from the mage to the huge ship. They hit and explosions like nothing anyone had ever caused issued forth from the points of contact were the spell hit. Dark had started with the opening of the fight, as then everyone started attacking as spells from below took hold of the armies to aid them. Spells of strength were cast upon those who needed them, protection on those who didn't have any, and invisibility on those who were being targeted too much. Those on the ground were behind mage shields casting what spells they needed, while the catapult operators used the newly designed versions of catapults. These launched an invention what was now being called a bomb, it exploded on impact causing great amounts of damaged. This was the first time the things were being used, and it appeared they were working well. The battle above was much more fierce than that on the ground, though the land units did have something to fear, like falling dragons and such. Kya was up to her ears in the ruckus of the congealed forces, and not to mention people, curriers and officers mostly, vying for her attention. The rest was the spell Chanting and the shouting of 'fire, and other various orders. She had to coordinate in the next five minutes with twenty other commanders and troop leaders. They wanted it in the next five minutes and she's got ten units spread out over the mile. She was going to smack some one. "Tell them that's a no can do in five." She turned to another, who was standing around her, she wanted to get by them so she could give orders. Houlou, Commander of the Tree Brigades, had required her to remove her men from various spots, and now he needed her to move them, and their equipment. "Tell him, not now." Shaow, leader of the Aqua Brigades needed some back up with some of the magic, as the strange creatures were using their green fire to shoot at the water dwellers. "Tell him we will do what we can." The huge unknown ship changed it's pattern of destruction, aiming for the woods were the tree units and her ground forces were. Everyone ran for cover, which gave Kya the go to get her orders out to her people. She went to the nearest of the unit commanders and yelled at him. "Aim for where that, green stuff is coming from. Find a way to take it out, we have to draw fire from the sea elves so they can regroup." She commanded to the startled soldier, who quickly regained his composure, then started shouting new orders as she made way for her mage unit. Another blast from the magical green light emanated once again and blasted near by, then another. It appeared to be the only spell they could cast, and she was thankful, because it was powerful. The thing or things, for no one was really quite sure what they were, also had a protection spell around their vessel. She dodged yet another ray of potential death as she made it into the protection of the mage shield. Locating the commanding officer she yelled at the old man, who was tall and gaunt with a very stern face, he scowled at her but nodded his acknowledgment. "Give the sea elves some help they need it in order to get their act together." She continued on, running from Unit to Unit shouting orders and attempting to do what everyone else wanted, while keeping her forces alive in the process. Several Units repositioned their catapults to take aim for were the death ray was coming from, while the mages assisted in casting protection on the elves who were still alive. All the while dodging, and hoping they weren't fried by the glowing green death that originated from the vessel. Kya dodged again as another blasted close to her, sending her flying into a tree, then to the ground unconscious. Dark and Dryakus were protecting each other as much as possible, one would throw a spell while the other protected and then they would switch out. They also did mass amounts of damage, while helping the other riders and mounts out. It was exhausting and sometimes painful, but it was worth it every time a chunk of the ship fell to the ground. He was just hoping the debris didn't hit anybody on the ground. He figured it wouldn't, as it wouldn't be productive to their long lives if they did. Dark curved his mount with a sharp left with a downward angle, flying under the ship, letting loose a fireball. He and his mount swooped out of range just barely missing the blast. He steered his mount to the left again, but this time they were heading to the top of the ship. Dryakus joined him and they both made way in that direction. Neither one of the two warlords required words to know what the other was thinking, they had known each other that long, and were closer than any family. Dark let loose a couple of fireballs, while his mount shot it's lighting breathe at the ship. The thing fired back and both the warlords steered their mount to dodge just as they cleared the top, at least that's what it looked like as the ship was round. Then Dark let loose a mage spell of such proportions that this time Dark didn't have time to clear the spell. Dark was thrown from the saddle, Rekia was protected so it didn't get injured by the blast, while Dryakus and his mount cleared it with only the heat touching them. Dark saw his mount fly off without him as he felt nothingness but the whoosh of the air all around. He knew then that he should have buckled himself in properly, but oh well. He flipped so he was facing the direction he was falling and used his wings to keep from crashing into the metal of the ship. But instead, he noticed their were patterned gaps that he could fly into, which he dodged for the nearest of them. He glided through it with ease, and his heart could have stopped as what he saw made even him disgusted. They appeared to be humanlike in nature, but then again it looked like the technology had possessed them. Dark flew down trying concentrate on finding someway to find something to destroy the things and their vessel. It was a terrifying sight as the bodies of what was blatantly a mix of races. Races of the likes that not even he had ever seen, or dreamed of for that matter. But the one thing they all had in common was the technology that was implanted into them. One could tell just how dead the creatures were and the skins of the creatures were sickly colours, depending on the race. Dark then realized if he didn't act fast this entire hell hole would be all any of them knew. He dodged around, the creatures below looking at him, then taking aim for him and firing. He dodged most of the blast, the rest being stopped by his mage shield. But he did notice that when one fired and missed, others in the area went to repair the damage, but they had their own personal mage shields. But the interior was open to being damaged, and that was all he needed. He summoned one of his fire balls and passed what looked like something that might cause a good explosion, so he let it loose. He was slammed into a hard surface as he couldn't outrun the explosion. He didn't waste a move as he fell to the floor, he used his arm and uninjured wing to land on his feet by flipping to the right. He glanced around and figured he was in deep shit, as he was being set upon by them all, and it made his stomach turn. The only thing going through his mind at that moment was he needed an army to save his ass. He grinned in the shadows of his hat, he almost forgot, he was the army. He drew his oversized sword and let loose a wind spell, creating a small, albeit powerful, wind field around him. Those that got caught in the wind field went flying away into one of several things, off the catwalk to the bottom of the ship, or into the wall nearby, or another creature. Dark took only a second to think because he knew he couldn't stay like this forever and the sight of the creatures was making him sick. Plus he would probably have nightmares for awhile too. He wondered briefly it those shields stopped people, one way to find out was cold hard steel. He lashed out in a direction totally opposite of his stance. He flipped the sword in his hand so the blade was facing the other direction than he was, and aimed straight for one of the creatures and jabbed it through his spell. He felt his blade explode with electricity, and into him, as he penetrated the shield and plunged through armor and flesh. Once he was sure the creature was damaged he pulled his weapon out. After all the electricity he was surprised to find himself alive, but he attacked again at one who was advancing, slashing the creatures head off. He dismissed the wind shield now, conserving his energies he decided was a good thing as once again he was electrocuted by the barriers the things sported. He didn't bother with what they looked like, they were all sick impressions of what they should have been. He knew as he faced off against what was obviously a human woman. She would have been beautiful he realized as he ended her existence. He didn't want to be this, he realized with a panic, he didn't want to do this if was taken. Because he had a really bad feeling that these people were slaves of sorts, that not even they wanted to hurt him. He killed yet another and tried to turn his brain off but failed too. He hated his people sometimes, always so sensitive to the world and lives around them. And now was not the time to be sensitive. Dryakus didn't know what the hell happened as he saw Rekia fly from the smoke, it's mage shield in place, with no Dark. He looked down and cursed, then yelled at Rekia to keep battling. Dark was dead now and their wasn't much he could do about it. He would bring this thing down one way or another, as it was Dark was his best friend. And Dryakus wanted vengeance, so with a diabolical grin he started to assault it with one spell after the other. He opened up with a lighting bolt, and it struck perfectly, while his mount took them to a position to help out a flying unit of three who were having a hard time dodging the death light that was being emitted. He shielded an Injured Dragon from the blow, but it destroyed his mage shield causing him minor burn. The rider and dragon of the other set was heading for the ground, as it was to injured to continue the fighting. The other two continued to battle, an old man atop a great green dragon, but he was a mage among them. The other was a young mage who just got his robes, which were white, and he rode upon a great white dragon. They were contrasting spells with fire and ice, which in turn caused chunks of the ship to fly off. Dryakus flew off in turn to cause some damage and let loose spells and help out the weaker of the mages. Dark cursed as the huge ship was rocked and spun around so he was glued to the wall. But at least he did manage to decapitate one of the monsters in the process as his sword slammed into the wall. He was so tired of being electrocuted, and he knew there had to be an easier way to do this. He pulled two of his throwing daggers out, holding them so he wouldn't stab himself while the ship was tossed around. Finally he was tossed to the ground as the ship came to a halt, tearing his sleeve from one of the daggers, he was quick to gain his footing again. He threw the dagger in the direction of the most immediate danger. The small blades penetrated the barriers and sliced right into their throats, but the creatures failed to drop dead, but instead kept advancing. Dark thought this was the most morbid nightmare he had ever had the honour of gracing, but he wanted out of it. He lashed out with his sword, while grabbing the huge bowie knife he kept hidden under his cloak. He separated a limb from a body as it reached out for him, he was getting slightly nervous now, as for each one he killed ten more seemed to take it's place. He was surrounded now, and no matter how much he parried and lashed out, they kept coming. He had it, he was going to do something and it wasn't going to be nice. He just didn't know what. Lashing out in a wide arc with his sword he went through the spells he had memorized, most being spells he would use in a one on one battle. He really couldn't think of anything to use against the vessel it's self from the insides. He was sorely missing his first officer all of a sudden. He needed Dryakus here with him, and he had to wonder if the younger mixed breed was ok. Now Dark decided it was time to panic. What if Dryakus had gotten caught in his blast. What if his army was falling to these creatures. What if they had ascended into the sky with him still aboard their vessel and he was trapped and no matter what he did he would never get back to the others. Dark snapped and summoned a spell he had forgotten years ago, and had never used before. Chanting words he leaned his sword on him, and using his now free hand to draw symbols in the air. The magic crackled around him, he could feel the creatures closing in on him, but he was no longer bothered by them. At that moment it was only the magic, the feel of the energy warming him, so much unlike the electrical jolts he had been receiving from his attacks against the creatures. Then the spell was finished and the ship shook as what could only be described as a swirling red mass opened in the floor just before him. Dryakus cursed as his fire wind attacked failed to damage anything to the extremes like he was hoping it would. The damn thing was just to big even though it was missing parts like someone had taken a bite out of it. Then he saw something that gave him pause in his thoughts about his lord being no more. A huge red and black creature the size of a baby dragon was tearing through the foreign vessel. Dryakus knew he was staring like a stupid moron, but he didn't care as he watched the creature, or demon actually, rampage through the ship with Dark on its shoulder. Dryakus grinned and flew to a small brigade of conversing commanders. Many were loosing hope with the news that Dark's dragon had no rider, so everyone was assuming the same as Dryakus, that Dark was dead. The commanders were arguing about what type of attack to try next, and who should lead it. DaZio was the first to notice the coming of Dryakus and he smiled. He knew Dryakus would put a quick end to the stupidity that was floating between the commanders. "How fair thee, My lord Dryakus?" "Dark's alive. Now may I suggest you ladies quit the tea break and bust out with some war on that thing." He pointed in the direction of the battle and the vessel, but he never took his eyes off a dark haired commander by the name of Yue Sama. DaZio was the first into action, rallying his small brigade to go attack wherever Dark was not. Yue Sama glared daggers at Dryakus. Sama was angered that Dryakus was posted in a position that, by Sama's opinion, was not qualified for. Then again Sama didn't even see Dark as being qualified. But Dryakus really didn't care as it was, he was still wondering why Sama had joined up if he wasn't a team player. Aloysis Rose, and his brother Shenre Rose, both nodded at one another and took off in the direction of the battle, obviously glad the meeting was at an end. Malkre Tah, one of Sama's only allies, stood his ground next to the commander. Sama stared at Dryakus for only a second more then took off into the fray, Tah following suite, as the oversized demon knocked a piece of the hull away from the rest of the ship. Dryakus was going to tell Dark of the insubordination of his officers, this way Dark could chew him out with that icy voice of his that always made silent threats. Let Sama stand his ground before Dark who was one of the most dangerous threats he knew. Kya had no idea how long she was unconscious for, but she awoke just in time to see a chunk of the ship falling in the direction of her troops, who thankfully scattered to the four winds. She muttered curses as she got up from the ground, using the tree that was kind enough to stop her flight, for support. She had to wait a moment for the dizziness to pass, but once it did she looked just in time to see another piece of falling debris headed her way. She cursed and made a limp for it, she hadn't even noticed that her leg was wounded till she tried to move on it. Then someone grabbed her and was pulling her along at a rapid pace. It was a knight of the clerics that was rescuing her, she noticed as she looked at him and the armor he wore. Then she realized she could be helping instead of the poor man carrying her. She started to help as best she could, but then again being thrown into a tree, her body didn't really want to listen to her right then. The metal of the ship landed, sending enough winds to knock them both over. She landed on top of him, but he immediately rolled them over so he was on top, just in time to catch chunks of earth and stray pieces of metal from the impact of the mass. He raised up off her and looked at her, concern written on his features. "Are you ok Madame?" "I would be better if you could get off of me and drag me to the nearest cleric so I can get back to my troops." She smiled at the poor man who looked a little stricken at her cruel words, but he quickly masked it and helped her up. Together they limped back to one of the main camp areas to find a healer. By the time they got there, the entire ship was on it's way down to the ground and once again Dark was riding Rekia. She had missed most the battle, but then again she had made the poor knight take her to get reports from her troops before they made it to the encampment. But then again he was eager to do so. Sometimes being a woman had some advantages. Dark and Dryakus grinned at one another as the ship crashed down. Home * Chapter Three |
