Johnny was a workaholic, a mild alcoholic and his bud habit was chronic, his lunch was a spliff and a triple gin and tonic, in his job he was on it but at home he just lost it, never thought narcotics would end up this costly, wake up each day to antibiotics and frosties, what a sad man with no life and no prospects, he used to have a wife now she lives in the projects, when they met she was a lawyer, now shes a sket no1 will employ her, her smack habit destroyed her, she only started gettin wrecked cos thats how Johnny enjoyed her, thats the story of his existence, keep ya distance, his hold will be your worst affliction, curse you with addiction, he could bring down an army with his foolproof system.
But Johnny's blind, locked in his mind 99% of the time, he can always find a way to justify what he says, the games he plays, to him they're real so we adjust our gaze, try and see it how he did, forget we remember him as a wee kid, hangin out on the weekend, my best friend, sharp funny but weakened, something somewhere deepened, an exisiting hole, a vaccuum of his soul, and slowly he became cold, before he was young he was old, we used to have fun now he started to fold, found answers in an empty glass, but those answers made him crash, so he turned to hash, mixed the two to get more smashed, until his brain collapsed, and the pain relapsed, since then he's been feasting on one long stash.
Johnny loved me like a brother, but he was a lonely mother fucker, loved his mother but he struck her without thinking, no doubt he was sinking, but throughout all his drinking she stood by him, always hidin when she'd been crying, always denying, endlessly lying, turned a blind eye to the supplying, a mum can't have fun watchin her own son dieing, but somehow she took it, though her smile was crooked and her eyes grew hooded, never cried cos out would have flooded, more pain and grief than is contained on these sheets, more than you or i could believe, yet she never felt decieved, showing weakness would mean she had underachieved, so inside she grieved but only ever showing that she still believed.
