Entry for April 17, 2009 ![]() Tea, anyone? I sure hope the ideologically-bankrupt right wing can eventually pull together a coherent, reasonable alternative to the things they don't like in the current administration. The "tea party" concept might have some validity, to the extent that it offers expression to the outrage of the ordinary citizen at the bankster bailouts and corporate welfare programs. However, with Fox News (the official news outlet of the RNC !!) unabashedly organizing the events and providing slogan ideas for signs, the entire operation tends to lose credibility. I am not taking a partisan position, and claiming that Obama is about to lead us to the promised land - far from it. The Democratic response to the economic meltdown has thus far appeared to be nearly as divorced from reality as the Republican's. I would have great respect for a principled, conservative alternative policy, if that were still somehow possible. At one time, the Republican party was known as the party of solid principle and economic responsibility. At one time, they took a principled stand against deficit spending and foreign warmongering. That was before Reagan introduced the bogus concepts of "supply-side" tax cuts and "trickle-down economics", and before the Bush dynasty elevated warmongering and torture to a fine art. This would be a great time for those opposed to lame governmental economic policy to articulate a principled approach and offer new ideas. It's time to deliver straight talk about bankster fraud and greed, and how it has infected our entire socioeconomic system. Both parties have participated in denial and deception as to the true roots of the problems. As I've said before, the right-left polemic is sheer drama, meant to obscure a sinister truth - that no politician from either side has the guts to speak the truth and provide true leadership. The game is about lining one's pockets and covering tracks. The ordinary citizen is expected to bend over and take it again and again. With that in mind, is sure seems a shame to waste the passionate anger of disaffected citizens on the tired slogans of right-wing blowhards. Come on, Sean Hannity, why not explain to us about the ownership of the Federal Reserve? Come on Glenn Beck, why not do an expose on the impropriety of Hank Paulson's collusion with his buds at Goldman Sachs? How ludicrous to invoke tea bag imagery when you apparently lack the necessary male glands to take on true leadership. Eunuchs organizing tea-bagging parties? Right. By the way, despite the bubbly talk of a recovery supposedly in sight, the next leg down will be clearly apparent by autumn. A truly aroused citizenry is something that has yet to be seen. The PTB are preparing their underground bunkers and safe havens, for they know this is coming. -Darkwave 2009-04-18 03:22:21 GMT
