Risk Factors for Hypertension

Good Morning!

Today I want to talk to you about Hypertension.

Many people ignore Hypertension as an issue because it usually has no symptoms.

That is why it is considered a "Silent Killer".

Hypertension is a serious condition because it damages the blood vessels in your body.

Which can lead to heart attack, stroke, blindness, and kidney failure.

If gone untreated it can lead to death.

Some of the Risk Factors for Hypertension are:

      - Family history

      - Foods you eat

      - being overweight

      - Lack of Activity

      - Age

      - Race: African Americans have a greater

                   Risk of hypertension.

Though some Risk Factors can not be avoided, you can lower your chances of developing Hypertension by changing a few things.

PREVENTION:

1. Eat a regular balance diet. As with many conditions, changing your current diet can effect the way your body works.

          - Bake or grill your meats.

          - eat more lean meats such as:

            (chicken, turkey, etc

2. Lose weight: If you are a few....

heavier then you should be lower it!

*NOTE: Your heart will thank you!

3. Quit smoking: Though smoking

has not been proven to cause

              Hypertension; it does raise your

              blood pressure.

Though there is no cure for Hypertension, getting treatment, daily exercise, and eating a balance meal can keep the numbers down!

Peace and Love,

Lisa Robertson
