Slovenia!
Obviously.. the more one travels in life (particularly, with a positive frame of mind), the more opportunities and wonderful experiences we open ourselves up to. So, the question is - 'Is this why each new country and each new day is felt to be awesome? ... or is it just that we really are loving Slovenia?'
BLED Lake Bled would have to be the absolute pick of picks for our trip so far! This small village reflects off the unreal turquiose / azure clear clear lake. It is a haven for nature lovers, for romantics and for people like you, me and well.. everybody! It's a casual 6km stroll around this gorgeous lake and forests and has it's very own wee little island with a cute little church atop. If peering into the amazing colour and clarity of the water isn't enough for you.. then just look up and outwards at the castle perched upon a 200m cliff face and then towards the snow capped mountains in the distance. (Perhaps, just perhaps, I may have been missing Fred during this time!) Then as if I wasn't influenced enough by the picturesque / romantic scenery, the nearby Vintage Gorge and waterfall also commanded deep appreciation and a natural respect! How much beauty and gorgeous nature in the one spot can there be?? Obviously, we were all stunned and taken with this introduction to Slovenia. Couple this with the good-humoured people with their smiles.. well - it was no wonder we wanted to stay longer.
PIRAN However, the venetian coastal town of Piran called us forth. And so, it was here that we spent the last 3 days in Slovenia. A few casual days appreciating the clean, clear Adriatic Sea, the warm sparkling sun, the walks through the lively, yet traditional quaint town of Piran. What a farewell. What awesome sunsets!
Slovenia is now the second country (along with Bulgaria) that is a must for returning to!
