Back to School Garden Update
It's nearly back to school time and that's great news for our school garden!
Garden Parent Helpers Needed ======================= We need a team of parents who will visit the garden once a week to help with the classrooms as they take care of the garden. You can choose Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, or Fridays. Tentatively we have planned garden time to be 8:30-9am daily. As a parent helper, you would enable a class to be split into smaller groups to help water plants, plant seeds, fill the compost bin, harvest and prune, fill bird feeders, make new beds, spread tan bark, and do other regular garden maintenance with the children. Email Annette Truong, [email protected] if you are interested. Garden Open House =============== Parent helpers and teachers are invited to come to the school garden Tuesday Aug 21 - Friday Aug 24 from 8:30-9am to be trained on garden duties. Gloves are provided. Come and see what's in the garden now, and how to do the daily tasks listed above. Garden Status: Full Grown Things ============== radishes lettuce peas zinnias tomatoes eggplants zucchini Still Maturing ========== carrots watermelons squash soybeans corn pumpkins climbing vines on the fence by the Y.
