IAM WHAT IAM: A God of Prosperity.

Exodus 3:13-15 And Moses saide vnto God, Behold, when I come vnto the children of Israel, and shall say vnto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me vnto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say vnto them? And God saide vnto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: And he said, Thus shalt thou say vnto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me vnto you. And God said moreouer vnto Moses, Thus shalt thou say vnto the children of Israel; The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Iacob hath sent me vnto you: this is my name for euer, and this is my memoriall vnto all generations.

God is what you need Him to be. If you need Him to be a God of health and healing, He is. If you need Him to be a God of peace in the torrent you call your life, He is. If you need Him to be a God of wisdom, He is. If you need Him to be a God of prosperity, He is.

Now many people think that prosperity concerns money. God can and does do that as well, but true prosperity has nothing to do with dollars, or dollar amounts. True prosperity is the undeniable visible movement of God in one’s life. The bible says that all that Joseph put his hands to prospered. All that Jacob touched prospered.

Prosperity is God’s blessings in all that you do, but with these examples God was put first and foremost in their lives. There are people in this room right now that are more prosperous than any of us could ever imagine, but are still dirt poor.

Webster’s Dictionary defines Prosperity as: Advance or gain in anything good or desirable. The bible tells us that God prospered Eliazer in his search for a wife for Isaac, if prosperity is the advance or gain in anything good or desirable, then remember that the bible also says that he who finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor with the LORD.

The bible tells us that Joseph prospered in all that he did, Genesis 39:3, if prosperity were solely about money than the bible would be false because Joseph was a slave, in V. 3, he had nothing, so how could he be prosperous? The bible also tells us that the LORD made Joseph’s hand to prosper while he was in prison, so if by some miracle Joseph had anything before he went to prison, he surely did not have even a crumb to his name when he went into prison, yet the bible tells us that he prospered in everything he did. The bible says in Deuteronomy 29:9 To keep the words of the covenant that God made with the Israelites so that all that they might do may prosper. Yes, sometimes prosperity does have something to do with money, but true prosperity is the undeniable, visible movement of God in our lives.

Prosperity comes solely from obedience to God; it is the righteous whom God blesses abundantly. Examples of prosperity of the righteous are Genesis 39:3; Deuteronomy 29:9; 1Chronicles 22:13; 2Chronicles 20:20, 26:5, 31:21, 32:30; Nehemiah 2:20; Psalms 1:3 and 122:6 for godliness is profitable.

God is a God of decency and order, therefore God rewards, exceedingly abundantly, and blesses those who obey His word. Examples of Plenty Promised to the obedient are: Leviticus 26:5; Deuteronomy 30:9; Psalm 132:15; Proverbs 3:10; Isaiah 30:23; Ezekiel 36:30; Amos 9:13 and Zechariah 8:12.

I made the mention that there are some here right now that are more prosperous than we could ever imagine, but are still dirt poor. You ask how could that be? How can someone be prosperous, and be dirt poor? I would have to ask you to think backing the past or even look at your present situation. How many of us in anytime in our lives, had to rely solely on God to pay our bills? How many of us just knew that we were going to have to spend a week without electricity because we didn’t have the money, but yet, the lights stayed on? How many of us have ever bought a brand new car, with no money down, bad credit and not really enough in your paycheck to pay for it? How many of us have kept that car. God moves mysteriously in our lives, but He does so in a relationship that is unlike any other. He just simply loves us. He moves in or lives because He loves us, and when you love Him back He blesses you even more, and so you glorify Him even more and He blesses you even more, and this is an on going cycle that only stops, when you stop being faithful to Him.

I’m sure that everyone in this room can identify with this, even if you have never struggled for anything a day in your life. I think that at some point and time in our lives we can all look back or currently see God moving in our lives in a way that is undeniable and what was completely impossible in the natural, became completely unimpossible in the supernatural. I don’t care if it was a bill that needed to be paid, that you did not have the money for, but somehow it still got paid. A car you could not afford even if you could qualify for it, you drove it here to church this morning. A job you needed that you are unqualified and not skilled to do, you landed to take care of your kids, and before anyone figured out that you were not qualified for the job, God gave you the understanding to do that job and qualified you. When the doctors told you that you had 3 months to live because the terminal illness you were suffering with was in a very advanced stage. God showed up and 5 years later you are still coming to church and praising His holy name. If a spouse has been unfaithful, and walked away from you and the kids, but you prayed that they would come back to God and get right with Jesus again and relied upon God to do what it is that He does, lo and behold the spouse comes back to God and to you and your marriage is stronger than ever. If your child has ever been addicted to drugs, and every possible moment in your life you prayed for that child, when ever you had the opportunity to lay hands on that child and pray over them, and call that nasty spirit out, and today that child is a successful person in all aspects an areas of their life. When God shows up people prosper.

When God tells Moses, that if the Israelites ask who sent him, he is to tell them that I AM THAT I AM! What God was saying then is the same that He is saying now. I AM that impossibility that you are needing. I AM that supernatural something that needs to happen. I AM whatever it is that you need even before you need it.

Father God thank you for being a God that loves us unconditionally, and thank you Father for being what we need when we need it, without You and Your intervention, we would be right in the same place that we always have been, but because of You and Your faithfulness to us, we not only succeed, and proceed, but we prosper, exceedingly abundantly more that we can hope or ask for. In the name of Jesus Christ be give thanks and praise, Amen.
