It was 5 days until Christmas and her Mother took her hand,
and led her to the local toystore, all shelves were filled so grand.
She told her Daughter to tell her, what Santa could bring for her,
would it be a big shiney bike or a big teddy bear with fur?
Or would you prefer a camera with auotomatic zoom,
and then her Daughter spotted the store's back storage room.
She walked to the door to take a closer look,
and there she saw a tarnished doll sitting beside a book.
She turned to her Mother and said "I want her, if I can"
her Mother gently smiled and said "No dear, you don't understand"
"That doll's just a part of something that they'll throw away,
She's just an old and worn out doll the store once had on display."
There is so many more to choose from, these others so pretty and new,
but her Daughter was down-right determined, what could a Mother do?
So, the store keeper dug her out and handed her to the girl,
this doll with big and ice blue eyes and tangled golden curl.
The smile apon that sweet girl's face was more than enough reward,
and that doll that she carried all the way home, that doll she just adored.
It seemed everywhere that child went, that doll, with them would go,
But, it was fine, although not understood, why her Daughter's face would glow.
So Christmas came and she finally asked "Sweetheart why do you show this doll such love?"
And then her Daughter whispered soft "she's the Christmas Angel sent down to us, to tell of Jesus's love!"
