Baby Jesus - Come!
It happened in Hungary, in a small town of about 1,500 inhabitants.
The primary school teacher was a staunch atheist. All her teaching was aimed at depriving children of faith in God. The children did not dare to defend themselves. Yet their families were faithful and deeply attached to religious practices. Father Norbert, the parish priest, gathered children in the church for catechism lessons. Teaching religion encountered great difficulties, and yet the children learned a lot from this teaching and attended the sacraments of St.
Miss Gertrude had some mysterious way of detecting children who received Holy Communion. and she was just crazy. And probably no one could report, because the whole parish and children were close.
In class IV there was a 10-year-old girl named Anielka, very intelligent and conscientious. She had a golden heart and she would help everyone. She was liked by everyone.
- One day - says Fr Norbert - she asked me for permission to communicate every day.
- Do you know what you are exposing yourself to? I asked.
- Pastor, she will not catch me for any neglect. When I receive Holy Communion I'm stronger - she said smiling. I allowed. From that moment on, the IV a became as if I had pre-baked. The teacher took on her and showered her with insults. The child bore it heroically, but it turned dry and pale.
- Angel, isn't it too hard? - I ask.
- Oh no. Jesus suffered more.
I was delighted with the child's attitude. Unable to catch her neglecting, the teacher decided to weaken the child's faith. In view of the mass of arguments she brought against God, Anielka often did not know how to find an answer and stood silent, suppressing sobbing. Her faith was unshakable.
Seemingly, the teacher triumphed. Aniela's silence disturbed her. So only prayer remained. The thing grew loud throughout the town and surrounding area. It was clear to everyone that in this fragile girl the teacher attacked the common good - the treasure of faith. Even her parents encouraged her. Everyone admired her.
A few days before Christmas, on December 17, Ms. Gertrude invented a terrible game that, in her opinion, was to break a child.
- What do you do when your parents call you?
- I'm coming.
- Perfect.
- And what happens when parents call the chimney sweep?
- The chimney sweep is coming.
Her heart was beating strongly sensing the trick.
P. Gertrude continues:
- Okay, the chimney sweep comes because it is, because it exists. You also come when called because you exist. But just imagine your parents are crying out for a grandma who has died, Will she come?
- I think not.
- Bravo. And if they call Red Riding Hood or a forest fairy - what will happen then?
- Nobody will come, because they are fairy tales.
"Excellent," the teacher triumphed. You answer very wisely. You see that those who exist come when called, the dead do not come.
"Yes," the children answered in unison.
- Little experience. Angel, get out of class. The girl obeyed. And now, the children, we'll call her.
- Aniela, 30 kids shouted in unison, thinking it was some fun. Anielka entered.
- So when you call someone who exists - he comes. The one who does not come does not come. Imagine now that you are crying out Baby Jesus. Are there any among you who believe in the Child Jesus?
Silence, then a few shy voices: Yes, yes.
The teacher now turns to Aniela:
- And do you believe that Baby Jesus will hear you when you call him?
Anielka now detected the trick and felt relieved.
"Yes, I believe he will hear," he replies with sudden force.
- Perfect. But let's try. So cry out loud together all together: Come, baby Jesus. One, two, three - shout.
The girls lowered their eyes.
Satan's laughter rang out in the deep silence.
- Here's what I wanted to convince you of. You do not dare to cry out, because you know very well that your Child Jesus will not come. And because it won't hear you - it doesn't exist like Little Red Riding Hood and other fairy-tale characters. It is only a fairy tale that the nannies tell children by the fireplace, but nobody takes these stories seriously because they are not true.
The bemused children were overwhelmed by the apparent obviousness of the words spoken by the teacher. Perhaps even in the little children's hearts a doubt arose ...
- Indeed, if he exists, why do not we see Him?
Aniela stood dead pale in the pew.
The teacher enjoyed mixing the children. This wicked little girl had finally won.
Suddenly, something unexpected happened.
Anielka jumped to the middle of the class, and with eyes full of glare, she shouted: Well, let's call! Do you hear me?
They all cried out together: Come, Baby Jesus.
In no time, the entire class was on its feet. Hands folded, eyes burning, hearts squeezed with great thirst and cry: Come, Baby Jesus.
The teacher did not expect anything similar. Unknowingly, she stepped back and stared at Aniela. A moment of deep silence and the child's grateful voice again: Once again ... There
was a scream that crushed the rocks, said one of the girls.
And then it happened ... The
children were not looking at the door, but at the opposite wall, on which Aniela's face was white. But behold, the door opened noiselessly and the children thought that all the light was concentrated in them ... the light grew, grew ... until it took the form of a fireball. They were terrified then, but only for a moment, so that they did not even have time to scream.
The room opened and the Child appeared inside, so delightful that the children were speechless. The Child smiled at them, and though he didn't say a word, the mere presence seemed sweet. The fear and amazement disappeared, and the children only felt some enormous happiness.
It took a while! Quarter of an hour? Hour? Here, the children's testimonies vary, but they all unanimously confirmed the fact. They even tell details like that the Child was dressed in white and gave the impression of the sun. There was such a light from him that the light of day seemed to be dark in comparison with him.
Some girls had their eyes paralyzed, others looked at ease with the utmost delight. The baby said nothing, only smiled sweetly, until it disappeared in a ball of light, which also began to slowly fade into the darkness. The door closed silently, and the delighted girls, with their hearts overflowing with joy, could not say a word for a moment.
Suddenly, a terrible scream split the air. As she was mad, with her eyes popping out of their sockets, the teacher called in a wild voice: He came, he came ... she rushed to the door, closing it with a bang.
Aniela, as if she woke up from a dream. See, so He is. Now let's thank you for listening to us.
And they all knelt, saying fervently: Our Father ... Hail Mary ... and Glory be to the Father.
The bell rang at the end of the lesson and the girls ran out to pause.
The thing, of course, got loud. When asked one after another, the girls gave identical and identical answers. There was not the slightest discrepancy in their testimony. It was also surprising that the whole event did not seem extraordinary to them.
- Because we were surprised, the Baby Jesus had to come to save us - explained one of the girls.
And the teacher? What happened to her? She had to be placed in a sanatorium, where she kept repeating for some time: He came, he came ...
