Ok - It is bloody COLD out today. I have made my decision - I was pretty sure I didn't much like France before I ever even THOUGHT of coming here...now I'm sure of it. It's cold and the sun NEVER comes out before noon. It's been cloudy every morning! The sun comes out for a little while and then the clouds come back! YUCK! It hasn't rained yet - that I know of.

So, SLEEPY this morning - BOLTED out of bed at 6am and off to breakfast. Hard boiled egg white, roasted potatoes, cinnamon roll, peaches, cheese...I think that's it - no coffee again. No juice...no milk - man, they SUCK with keeping beverages down there! No ice...

Up to the container - I needed coffee and Sasha is supposed to start at 6am to get tools ready and coffee going. NO COFFEE...NO SASHA! Well, the coffee had been started, apparently, but the power in the container sucks and with the lights on, the coffee maker is VERY slow (and totally NOT hot). So, I'm sitting there and finally Sasha shows up and there's enough coffee in the pot and I'm like "Sasha, Dude...I NEED coffee." He's such a sweet guy. He takes 2 cups, holds one under the dripper and pours coffee...well, that's what HE called it...in the other and off I went. I choked down 4 swigs of caffeinated mud, tried to water it down and almost gagged on what I ended up with and tossed it. *Sigh*

Not much for me to do at Calypso Bar again, since they are sanding and fitting panels, so off I went to find Kenneth at the Bandstand.

Today we layed and attached the plywood. First we used Forstner bits to sink holes in the plywood so the screws and washers will be lower than the plywood. I did that...Used power tools today! Then, I used a drill to drill a hole for the screws through the plywood and steel frame. Then Kenneth used a tap to make threads in the hole for the screw and then he put the screws and washers in. We did a TON of them! Once we got the plywood firmly secured, King Pekka showed up, having finished the jacuzzis on deck 16. So, we made blocks on the bottom for the facia to screw into. We'll be bending the facia after lunch. 3 pieces of thin teak glued together and bent around the frame and then fastened to the blocks we just attached. I should go take pictures before we start that.

Had to put on a long sleeved shirt under my Tee under my sweat shirt. IT IS COLD - stupid wind! It's like the Chicago of France here! BLECH. See ya later!

Ahhhhh! I'm in heaven right now. The sun went away, the clouds came out and the wind picked back up at 3pm. 2 hours of nice weather....NO worries about me moving HERE! After a lunch of broccoli pasta, salad with French dressing, sun dried tomato roll, cheese, French fries and a Boston cream cake (NO juice or ICE...water was from the juice machine minus the juice concentrate because the WATER machine wasn't working! It was scarey water and I didn't drink much of it) So, after lunch, I FOUND AN ELEVATOR THAT WORKS! AND IT DUMPS RIGHT OUTSIDE MY CABIN DOOR!! WOO HOO!!

After that terrific find, I got back to work. We glued down the facia on the bandstand. To do this, we took three 1/4" teak boards and bent them in the shape of the bandstand. We cut them to the right size and then we glued them together to make a 3/4" piece and we screwed it on (& glued it) to the front of the bandstand. We had to make 3 pieces to cover the entire bandstand facia. (Or the part you end up kicking when you miss the step ) It took us (3 of us) 5 hours to do this. We finished at 6pm. Then, I went to watch them in Calypso Bar and Evan put me to work cleaning up. At 7, Erik told me to come eat - that it was going to be a late night and we were eating and then coming back to finish...So, I went to eat dinner - beans (black, kidney & White) with onions and peppers, a roll, salad with French dressing (the other option looks like strawberrry and that just DOESN"T appeal to me!) cheese and CRANBERRY JUICE!! YIPPEE!!! Right after I finished eating, I thought "Hmmmm...There really isn't a sense for me to go back to work - I was just doing 'filler' work" So, I went to Evan and said "Do you want me to have knocked off at 7? or do you want me to keep working? Doesn't matter to me, but you may want to save the hours for real work instead of filler work." He thought about it and said "Yeah - See ya tomorrow." So, I got back to my cabin and took a shower, decided to heck with laundry I WANT TO REST!!

It's 8:20 and here I am, watching CARS on TV and thinking about those Hershey Kisses in my bag. Ahhhh, sweet rest - I'm in heaven. Sleep tonight! OH! And the A/C is on!
