The Irish Referendum on the Lisbon Treaty 15 June 2008

Turnout was a healthy 53 percent, eliminating suggestions that voter apathy was to blame for the defeat of a measure supported by all three of Ireland's major political parties as well as farmers' groups, businessmen and many labour unions.

Electoral returns showed opposition to the treaty concentrated in working class areas where many people are suspicious of Brussels and of their country's political elite.

Ireland is one of the EU's great success stories -- once one of the poorest countries in western Europe, it is now one of the world's richest. But the economy has started to stall and many voters are uneasy with massive immigration and rapid change

Clearly vision is needed amongst the peoples of Europe. And my submission is that this vision shall not be found, just looking at things material only. There are many more things that divide us than that unite us. For, one man’s profit is another one’s death, or demise as it is said. That has been the natural state of Europe in the past, and many ideologies have come and flourished in the past for a while, but proved to be of no avail in the long run for to its peoples, rather to the contrary, they bring much mayhem, death and persecution. Surprising? They àre of man. Perhaps we should look for the explanation there.

But I do believe that if ordinary people return to the God of Israel as He still wants to be called today: Jesus, Jeshua, or God Saves, He Who calls Himself a people today and tomorrow, that shall not be afraid of men, but take courage in the God of Abraham and Mozes and David and seek His face through His Word, they shall not be disappointed. Then the day may come soon that she _europa, i.e. the wide-eyed one, shall be called Beulah (married one) and not foresaken (the Book of Hosea). Instead of being suspended over emptiness as many of us are today, _ Empty dreams and aspirations, so-called visions, delusions.

Then the days of ‘Egypt’ and ‘Babylon’ (or ‘Tyre’) as they are called in biblical terms (spiritual things) shall be behind us where they belong, and men shall come the full stature of Christ Jesus (Letter to Colossians 2, verse 10 , not seeking answers anymore in foibles and fables of men, but in God, His trustworthy Word to us from the beginning of time.
