Since the late seventies, His Holiness Namkhai Ningpo Rimpochhe is the spiritual guru of the people in Upper Kheng. No family in Shingkhar geog rears pigs as their rearing means  slaughtering for food. The goenpa in Wamling has been mostly constructed with labour contributions from the people. Currently, there are 20 monks and two teachers at this shedra. As of July 2007, Wamlingpas living in Thimphu have raised over Nu. 11 lakhs for this monastery.
