| How to rush Sigma Alpha Iota |
| First of all, we are so happy that you are thinking about rushing SAI! We are a close sisterhood of music and non-music majors all working tward a common goal...promotion of women in music. Or sisters majors range from performance, education, buisness and even pre-vet. You can see, we have no limit to our diversity! In order to become a sister of SAI, we have a few simple guidelines. They are as follows: |
| Costs: The fees for Sigma Alpha Iota are considerably lower than thoes of a social sorority. The estimated fee in approx. $125-$160 your pledging semester. This can be broken down to: $20 pledge fee $35 initiation fee $25 national dues $45 gold plated badge (there is an optional 10k badge for $85) After initiation: $30 chapter/national dues We do not wish money to hinder you wanting to join SAI. We conduct several fundraising projects thru out the year and we are currently setting up a scholorship fund for members who work at our coffee shops for symphony, choir and opera concerts. |
| ~ You must be a matriculated woman attending NMSU ~ You must have successfully completed any music class (this can include any ensemble, MUS 101, 110 and 201 as well as music major classes) ~ You must have acheived a minimum 2.5 GPA ~ You must be a at least a second semester freshman. Sadly, we cannot accept new members who have not been in school for at least a semester, due to the stressful demands of the first college semester. ~ You should have a sincere intrest in music, you do not have to be a major |
| Requirements During Pledging: Hand in an offcial copy of you GPA, does not have to be a transcript. Write a one page essay on why you wish to join SAI. Have a faculty member, who knows you personally, fill out the reccomendation form. Pay $20 when you had in you application packet (comprised of above requirements) Attend the Formal Tea to accept your invitation to membership. Attend the Induction Ceremony where you will be recognized as a pledge. Pay national dues ($25) and Initation fee ($35) Conduct pledge meetings with VP of Membership Pay badge fee ($45 or $85) Take (and pass) membership exam. Attend initiation ceremony where you will become a full member of SAI |
