TE AOPARE
This page is dedicated to Te Aopare Dewes,
one of my favourite secret keepers and friends!!!
Her birthday is the 24th of May, she was born 1984 *baby!!!*
I met her in 4th form, she came to us from a Eastside school.
She was Head Girl at Western Heights High School in 2001,
an awesomely talented hockey player and a
generally well-balanced person. She always got right into whatever she was doing.
At the moment she is going to big old University in Aucks! She is studying law/science. Brainy cat huh.
Te Aopare was here great grandmothers name, also one of her ancestors from down the coast. She was the eldest of 3 girls, Tamateakui and Hinerupe. The 3 sisters could all sing like bell birds. Their mothers maiden name is Rongomaitapui. There is a prover (whakatauki) "Ka ko ngo kopara a Rongomaitapui" which means "Rongomaitapui's children could sing like like bellbirds. Te Kopara is Te Aopares middle name!
