Chapter 31
"All right let's get out of here," Nick said as he walked on his crutches after picking up his prescription.  Kristin walked ahead of him to the taxi waiting outside.  Nick tried to keep up, but his crutches were slowing him down.  "Hey slow down!" he said while trying to speed up.
Kristin laughed.  "Something wrong hop along?"
"Okay make fun of me why don't you?"  Nick said while trying to go faster.  "Stupid crutches!" he said then suddenly fell flat on his face.
Kristin busted up laughing and helped Nick back up.  "I'm sorry baby, I know I shouldn't be laughing.  But you have no idea how hilarious that looked.
"Gee, thanks," Nick said, standing back up.
"Come on the taxi's outside waiting for us," she said as she opened the door for Nick.
The two of them got inside the taxi and rode to Nick's house.  Kristin gave the taxi driver his money and helped Nick out of the car.  He winced in pain when trying to stand up on his crutches.
"You need to get inside and take you medication.  Come on," Kristin said as she supported him.  Nick walked in the house and headed to the stairs.  "Where do you think you're going?"
"Upstairs to my room," Nick said while going up the steps.
"Get back down here.  You don't need to be trying to walk up stairs with your leg.  You can lay on the couch."
"But--"
"Didn't you hear the doctor about being careful with your leg?"  Nick sighed and walked over to the couch and laid down.  He groaned in pain.  "I'll go get you some water so you can take your medication," Kristin said as she went to the kitchen then came back chuckling.  "I forgot this isn't my house.  Where are your glasses?"
Nick laughed.  "First cabinet by the fridge."
Kristin went back in the kitchen and came back out with a glass of water and two pills.  "Here," she said as she handed them to him.
Nick took the pills and gave her back the glass.  "Thanks babe," he said and laid back down.
Kristin leaned over and kissed him on the forehead.  "I'll be right back I'm gonna get some stuff so you don't have to move around too much.  The less you're on your leg the better you're gonna be," she said then walked over and got the remote and TV guide for him.  "You want a pillow from off your bed?  I can get one for you."
"Yeah that'd be great.  Get the green one off my bed."
Kristin went to his room and came back with a green pillow.  "This it?" she asked as she handed it to him.
"Yeah, thanks," he said as he put it behind his head.
"Are you hungry?  I can get you something to eat."  Nick shook his head.  "You sure?"  Nick nodded and closed his eyes.  "Looks like your medication is kicking in."
Nick looked up and grabbed her hand.  "Come here," he said as he scooted over.  "Let me hold you for a while."
Kristin smiled and laid on the couch next to Nick.  He wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her lightly on the cheek.  "You make a good cuddle toy," he said with a snicker.
Kristin playfully smacked him on the arm and rolled over, facing him.  She kissed the tip of his nose.  "I just think you're delirious, but I'll keep my mouth shut so you'll keep holding me," she said with a laugh.
"You know, with me not being able to walk on my leg for a couple of days it might be nice to have a personal nurse around."
"Nick Carter are you asking me to stay over for two days?"
Nick nodded with a grin.  "I only have two days left and I want to spend them with you."
Kristin smiled and kissed him on the lips.  "Of course I'll stay.  But I'll need to go get some clothes and stuff."
Nick reached in his pocket and pulled out his keys.  "Here take my Durango.  Go get you some clothes and come back."
Kristin laid there in shock.  "You're letting me drive your Durango?"
"Yeah, I trust you."
Kristin squealed then kissed him again.  "I'll be back in a bit," she said as she sat up.
"Okay," Nick said in between a yawn.
"I think your medication has taken full affect.  Get some sleep and I'll be back to fix you some dinner," she said then headed toward the door.  "Oh by the way Nick what did you- -" she said as she turned around, noticing Nick was sound asleep.  She smiled to herself then grabbed a blanket off the couch and put it over him.  Kissing him softly on his cheek, then quietly left the house.

Chapter 32

Sarah sat in the kitchen looking at the want ads in the newspaper.  She sighed as she circled another possibility.  Just then, Kevin came in all hot and sweaty.  She smiled when she saw him.
"Hey!  How was the gym?" she asked.
"It was pretty good.  It felt good to work out again.  Haven't had a full work out in a while," he said as he took off his shirt.  "I'm gonna go take a shower.  I'll be back in a bit."
"Okay," Sarah said as she went back to her paper.
A few minutes later Kevin came out of the shower with fresh clothes on and walked into the kitchen.  "What are you doing?" he asked as he looked through the fridge.
"I'm trying to find me a new job, but I'm not having much luck with that," Sarah said as she threw her pen down and rubbed her temples.
Kevin got a bottled water from the fridge and sat down next to her.  "You don't need a job."
"But I want to help out on all the expenses.  I'm living here too and I think that I should be able to help you out a little."
Kevin chuckled.  "I'll say it again you don't need a job, but if you really want to go get one fine with me.  I'm not gonna tell you how to live your life."
Sarah stared blankly at Kevin.  "Wow, a guy who lets me do what I want.  That's a first."
Kevin smiled and stood back up.  "I'm gonna start some laundry.  You need anything washed?"
Sarah shook her head.  "I already washed my laundry this morning."
"Okay, well I'll be downstairs doing my laundry.  If someone calls for me just come down and bring me the cordless."
"Okay," Sarah said as she stared back down at the paper.  "God there is nothing in this stupid town!" she said as she chucked her pen across the room.  Letting her chair scrape against the linoleum floor she stood up and stretched her muscles.  She let out a sigh of frustration as she picked up the paper and went to her room.  After days of living with Kevin she had finally gotten the room set up the way she wanted it.  The bed was centered in the room with a night stand on both sides.  Her lavender curtains draped from the large window.  All her clothes were hung up in the walk in closet, and she managed to buy new stuff for her bathroom.  Sarah opened a drawer on her dresser and pulled out some shorts and a top to sleep in then took them with her to the bathroom.  She ran warm water over a wash cloth and washed her face then towel dried it after she was finished.  Taking a look at herself in the mirror she could see there were dark circles under her eyes from lack of sleep.  The bruise on her cheek was a light shade of brown, barely visible to the eye.  Sarah sighed as she remembered that night.  She shook the memory out of her head as she began to brush her teeth.  When she was finished she shut of the bathroom light and returned to her room.  Snatching her favorite teddy bear from her bed she sat down on the bay window and looked up at the stars from her window.  The room was dark and silent.  Nothing was stirring but the flickering lights of the lit candles in her room.  The shadows bounced off the walls, like ghosts at play.  Sarah was dreaming away when she heard a light tap on her door.  She looked up and there stood Kevin.
"Mind if I come in?"
"No, not at all," Sarah said in almost a whisper.
Kevin sat across from her.  "What are you doing sitting here in the dark?"
"Just thinking," she said, fiddling with her teddy bear's ear.
"Anything you want to talk about?"  Kevin asked as he scooted closer to her.
Sarah shook her head.  "No, I'm okay," she said as she shifted her shoulders.  "God my neck and shoulders are killing me from looking at that damn paper all day."
"Come here, you look tense."  Sarah moved closer to him and he began to massage her neck and shoulders.
"Mmm that feels good," she murmured.
"You're so tight.  You need to relax," Kevin said as he continued rubbing her shoulders.  He heard her sniffle.  "You sure you're all right?" he asked gently, running his hands down her arms.  Sarah let out a soft sob.  Kevin wrapped his arms around her for comfort.  "You don't have to say anything. . .I know it's rough."
Sarah turned around and looked up at Kevin.  "I'm sorry, I know I must annoy you when I do that."
Kevin's green eyes softened as he wiped a tear from her cheek.  "No, it doesn't annoy me at all.  I understand you're going through a difficult time."
"I've never met anyone as understanding as you.  I don't know what I'd do without you," Sarah said as she placed her hand on his cheek.  Their eyes locked with intense as Sarah slowly moved forward.  They're lips were almost touching when they were interrupted by the phone.
Kevin jumped and cleared his throat.  "I'll go get that," he said then swiftly left the room.
Sarah sat there in bewilderment trying to soak in what had happened.  Gripping her teddy bear she stood by her door and listened to Kevin.
"Hello?  Oh hey mom!  Yeah I know I've been busy."  There was silent then he spoke again.  "A girl?"  He chuckled.  "Oh that must have been Sarah.  She's staying here with me.  It's a long story I'll explain later.  Do I like her?"  Sarah moved closer to the doorway.  "Oh mom you gotta meet her. . .she's. . .she's wonderful.  No, she's not my girlfriend. . .though I kind if wish she was."  She heard Kevin move down the hallway so she ducked away.  Hearing the door to his room close she smiled at what just heard.

Chapter 33

Nikki paced around her apartment waiting for Howie to arrive.  "I can't believe I'm doing this," she said out loud.  "What if I totally scare him and it ruins everything."  She was startled by the doorbell.  Nikki drew in a deep breath and straightened her shirt before she opened the door.  "Hi," she said once she opened the door.
Howie smiled and stepped into her apartment.  "Hey," he said softly.  "I've been real worried about you.  Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine," she said quickly then sat down on the couch.
Howie sat down next to her, she avoided his eyes.  "Nikki I think you know I can sense when you're lying.  Tell me what's wrong."  He lifted her head up with her fingers under her chin.  "You know you can trust me."
Nikki looked into his brown eyes and melted.  God why does he have to be so cute?, she thought.  "Nothing's wrong.  I'm fine," she said, avoiding his eyes once more.
"Look me in the eyes and tell me nothing's wrong and I"ll believe you."
Nikki sighed.  "I. . .I can't."
Howie took her hand.  "Come on let's go for a walk.  Grab your jacket it's a little chilly out by the ocean tonight."  The two of the got in Howie's car and drove out to the beach.  He grabbed her hand they walked tensely down the shore together.  "I'm willing to listen if you're ready to talk.  You told me that you needed to talk when you called. . .so talk."
"It's not that simple Howie," Nikki said as she jerked her hand away from his and walked over to a drift wood sitting up on the beach and sat down.
Howie sat down next to her at looked at her.  Her blonde hair was flowing in the wind.  She looked so beautiful to him.  He was hurt that she wouldn't talk to him.  Howie gently placed his hand on top of hers.  "Nikki. . .please talk to me.  Whatever it is maybe- -"
"Howie I love you!"  Nikki blurted out.
Howie sat there frozen.  "Wh--What?"
"You heard me," Nikki said, facing him.  "I don't know how to say this without ruining our friendship but I have feelings for you.  Not just best friend feelings. . .more than best friends feelings."  Howie turns his head away from her.  Feeling rejected she looked down at her hands.  "I shouldn't have told you.  Now I've ruined everything," she said in a disappointed tone and turned away from him.
Howie looked up, his eyes facing her back.  Gently he placed his hand on her shoulder.  "You didn't ruin anything."
Nikki turned back around and stared at Howie.  "I didn't?"
Howie smiled.  "No," he said as he brushed a stray hair from her face and tucked it behind her ear.  "You made everything perfect," he said then gently kissed her on the lips.

Chapter 34

Amanda was sitting on the couch trying to concentrate on her history book.  All the words seem to jumble together in her mind.  Nothing was making sense to her.  Frustrated, she put the book down on the floor and clicked on the TV.  It was nine o'clock and there was nothing on but news.  Determined to find something half way entertaining to watch she hastily flipped through the channels.  Since there was absolutely nothing on she clicked the TV off and laid on the couch.  Her headache grew stronger so she got up to take an aspirin.  Finding the aspirin bottle in the cabinet and filling a glass up with water she took the aspirin and made her way back to the couch.  The sound of someone knocking lead Amanda to the door.  There stood AJ with an armful of groceries and a bouquet of pale pink tulips.
"Hey babe," he said then kissed her on the cheek.
Dumbfounded Amanda stared at him.  "AJ what are you doing here?"
"I'm making you dinner tonight.  Remember?  We planned it this morning," he said as he wandered into the kitchen and began taking the stuff out of the bags.  He handed her the tulips.  "These are for you."
"Thank you," Amanda said as she looked around for a vase.  "So what are we having tonight?" she asked as she ran water into the vase.
"Lemon and garlic chicken with baby potatoes, carrots and salad.  For dessert. . .peach cobbler," he said as he pulled out the container of peach cobbler.  "It's my mom's recipe I made it this morning."
"My you have been a busy boy," Amanda said as she wrapped her arms around his waist."
"Only the best for my girl," he said with a quick peck on the lips.  "I'm gonna get started.  You wanna help or are you gonna study?  Doesn't matter to me.  I can handle this if you need to study."
Amanda sighed.  "I think I've done all the studying I can do for one night."
"Okay, well you can get the water ready for the carrots and potatoes.  I'll cut up the chicken."
The two of them cooked the meal together; when it was cooked AJ set up the table with the proper silverware and candles.  He dimmed the light then lead Amanda over to her seat.  Anxiously he waited as she took the first bite out of her chicken.
"Mmm this is really good.  You did a good job," she commented.
AJ smiled with relief.  "I'm glad you like it."
The two of them ate the dinner.  When they finished AJ cleaned up the dishes and got out the peach cobbler.  Cutting a small piece out and putting it on the plates, he brought them over to the table.
Amanda suddenly felt a wave of nausea hit her as she looked at the cobbler, shaking it off she just sat there and picked at it.  AJ noticed it and looked at her in concern.  "You okay?  You're not eating your cobbler."
Amanda looked up and smiled.  "Sorry, I guess I ate too much.  I'm not really hungry anymore.  I don't think I got room for cobbler."
AJ chuckled.  "That's OK.  We'll put it in the fridge for later."  He stood up and blew the candles out.  "Come on, let's go to your room.  I rented a movie."
Amanda followed him to her room and sat on the bed.  He put the movie and sat down next to her.  "What movie did you rent?"
"City of Angels," AJ said as he wrapped his arms around her.  "I know how much you love that movie."
Amanda smiled and kissed him lightly on the lips.  AJ made himself comfortable and Amanda laid her head on his chest and watched the movie.  The two of them cuddled as the movie went on.  Amanda noticed her eyes getting heavy and slowly she drifted off to sleep.  When the movie was over, AJ noticed that she fast asleep.  He clicked off the TV and carefully slid out from under her.  She stirred a little and opened her eyes.
"What are you doing?" she said in a hoarse voice.
AJ kissed her on the forehead and pulled the covers back.  "You're going to bed, you're tired."
"Are you leaving?"  Amanda asked, sitting up feeling slightly dizzy.  "Ooh!" she moaned, pressing her hand on her forehead.
"I'm not going anywhere," he said laying her back down.  "I'm staying right here," AJ added then put the covers over her.  Taking his shirt and jeans off he climbed into bed with her.  Draping his arms around her, she snuggled closely to him.  "Good night," he whispered.
Amanda didn't answer, she had already fallen back to sleep.  AJ watched her sleep for a while then drifted of to sleep himself.  Sometime in the middle of the night he was awaken by Amanda moaning.  Sleepily he rolled over and looked at her.  She moaned once more and sat up.
"Amanda?  What's the matter baby?" he said softly.
Swiftly she got out of bed and ran to the bathroom and shut the door.  AJ got up and tapped lightly on the door.  "Amanda?  Amanda, baby you okay?"
"I'm okay," she weakly responded.  "Just go back to bed."
"Are you sure?"  AJ asked in more concern.
"Yeah, just go on back to bed," she called back.
AJ pressed against the door and could hear the faint sound of Amanda vomiting.  AJ sighed, baffled, and got back into bed.  A few minutes later Amanda came out of the bathroom with her hand on her stomach and pale faced.  She climbed back into bed and laid her head on AJ's chest.
"You okay?"  AJ asked as he rubbed his hand on her stomach.
"Yeah, I think so."  Amanda said softly.
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah, I just wanna go back to sleep.  Probably just a bug or something I ate."
AJ placed his hand on her forehead.  "That's strange. . .you're not running a fever."
"I'm fine.  Just go back to sleep," Amanda whined.
AJ kissed her on the top of her head and held her close.  Eventually Amanda went back to sleep.  AJ kissed her once more and drifted to sleep.

Chapter 35

Rachel let out a baffled sigh as she hastily click away on her lap top.  She was concentrating so hard on her paper, she didn't hear Brian come into the kitchen.  He tenderly wrapped his arms around her and kissed her gently on the cheek.  Rachel stopped typing and rubbed her temples.  "This is so irritating," she groaned.
"Having difficulties?"  Brian asked as he sat in the chair next to her.
"It's not really all that difficult.  I'm just not in the mood to do this.  But I need to get it done."
"Maybe you should take a break from it.  Come back and finish it later."
"No if I do that I'll never get back to it.  I'll find a reason to procrastinate."  Rachel drew in a deep breath as she looked at her partially finished paper.  "I'm probably going to be up all night trying to write this stupid thing!"
Brian smiled and put his hand on her leg.  "Want me to go get you a cappuccino?  I don't mind."
Rachel smiled back at him.  "Could you?"
"Sure no problem.  I'll go pick up a movie for me to watch and get you your cappuccino."
Rachel pursed her lips.  "I'm sorry I'm not being very good company tonight.  I just really need to get this paper done."
"Don't worry about it.  I just like being with you.  Doesn't matter what you're doing as long as I'm with you."
"That's sweet," Rachel said as she put her hand on top of his.
Just then, they heard the front door open.  Kristin appeared into the kitchen grinning from ear to ear.  "Hey guys!"
"Hey!  What are you doing here?  I thought you were going to spend some time with Nick," Rachel asked.
"I am.  I just came back to grab some stuff.  Nick wants me to stay with him for the next two days."
"How did you get here?"  Brian asked curiously.
Kristin's smiled grew bigger as she held out Nick's keys.  "He let me drive the Durango!"
Brian's mouth dropped.  "Whoa he let you drive his Durango?"  Kristin nodded.  "Nick Carter, my best friend, let someone other than him drive his Durango?"
"You got it!"
Brian laughed.  "You've got him whipped.  He never lets anyone drive that car."
Kristin laughed.  "Well, I guess he trusts me."
"So you're staying with him for the next couple of days?"  Rachel asked.
"Yeah.  You don't mind do you?"
"No, not at all."
"Cool, I'm gonna start packing some stuff.  Wanna help?"
"Sure, I could use a break anyway," Rachel said getting out of her seat.
"I'm gonna go get that movie and your cappuccino," Brian said.  "I'll be back soon," he said then gave her a quick kiss on the cheek.
Rachel smiled and looked over at Kristin who was grinning at her.  "What?"
"Nothing except you two are adorable."
Rachel blushed.  "Oh stop!"
Kristin laughed and walked to her room.  Rachel followed her.  "So what do you and Brian have planned for the evening?"  Kristin asked as she got out her duffle bag.
"Nothing really.  I've got that big paper due on Monday so I'm gonna be working on that all night.  I feel bad because I'm leaving Brian with pretty much nothing to do.  He doesn't seem to mind though."
"I think it's cute.  Can you get my toothbrush and toothpaste out of my bathroom please?"
"Sure," Rachel said as she went to the bathroom.  "Here you go," she said then handed them to Kristin.
"Thanks.  So how do you like being with Brian?  Is it everything you ever hoped for?" she asked as she packed her clothes.
Rachel smiled.  "I can't believe I'm actually with him.  I feel like I'm in a dream and I'm about to wake up.  But I never do."
Kristin smiled back.  "I feel the same way about Nick.  It's all kind of overwhelming.  Nice, but overwhelming."
"Do you think we'll be able to handle them being on tour?"  Rachel questioned as she sat on Kristin's bed.
"I don't doubt it one bit.  You and I were able to keep our friendship going strong for three and a half years long distance.  I'm sure we can handle a tour."
"I sure hope so," Rachel said, anxiously biting her nails.
"You will," Kristin said assuringly.  She zipped up her duffel bag.  "Well, I think I have everything.  I'm gonna go ahead and go back to Nick's place."
"Okay, have fun," Rachel said as she followed Kristin to the front door.
"Oh I will," Kristin commented with a mischievous grin.
Just then, Brian came in through the door.  "I'm back.  Here's your cappuccino," he said as he handed the cup to Rachel.
"Thanks you sweetie," Rachel said then kissed him.
Brian smiled and wrapped around his arms around her waist and looked over at Kristin.  "What are you smiling at?"
"Nothing," she said innocently.  "I'm gonna go now.  See you guys later."
"Yeah, go ahead, leave.  And take Nick's Durango with you!"  Brian joked.  Kristin laughed and left the apartment.  Brian let go of Rachel and walked over to the TV.
"What movie did you rent?"  Rachel asked.
"The Other Sister," he said as he popped it into the VCR.
"You rented a chick flick?" she asked, surprised.
"Sure!  Why not?  I'm not afraid to show my feminine side," Brian said matter of factly then sat on the couch.  "Aren't you gonna finish your paper?"
Rachel shook her head.  "No, I'm gonna watch this movie with you and go back to it later.  I'm too irritated to finish it right now."
"Okay," Brian said as he put his arm around her shoulders.
The two of them cuddled together and watched the movie.  When the movie was over, Rachel looked over at Brian who was fast asleep on the arm of the couch.  She got up and grabbed a spare blanket from the linen closet and draped it over him.  Quietly she walked back into the kitchen and sat at the table to finish her paper.  After a couple of hours she added the final touch before saving it to a disk.  Skimming the paper one last time she saved it and shut off her lap top.  Letting out a yawn of exhaustion she stood up and stretched.  Looking at the clock and noticing it was almost 3 AM, she turned off the kitchen light and tip toed into the living room where Brian was still sleeping.  She kissed him lightly on the forehead and turned off the lamp next to the couch.  Making sure the front door was locked, she quietly crept to her room and got ready for bed.  She had just crawled into bed when she felt two strong arms wrap around her waist.  Rachel rolled over to find Brian laying next to her.
"I'm sorry did I wake you?"
"No, but I woke up and you weren't there.  I missed you," he said as he nuzzled her neck.
Rachel smiled and laid her head on his chest.  "You were sleeping so peacefully I didn't want to wake you.  So I just left you there," she said then yawned.
"Did you finish your paper?"
Rachel nodded sleepily.  "Yeah, now I'm really tired.  I just wanna sleep for a really long time."
Brian chuckled lightly and kissed her on the cheek.  "Good night," he said as he held her close and snuggled under the covers.
"Night," Rachel said drowsily then drifted off to sleep.

Chapter 36

Kristin arrived back at Nick's place shortly after she left the apartment.  Opening the door, she was greeted by Mikey, Willie, and Houston, three of Nick's pugs.  They barked loudly and pawed at the door.  Kristin laughed and let them outside.  Once she shut the door, she set her duffel bag on a table next to the door and walked over to the couch where Nick was still sleeping.  His fourth pug Nicky was asleep on top of his chest.  Kristin couldn't help but giggle at the sight.  Gently she pushed a stray hair from his face and kissed him lightly on the forehead.  He stirred, but didn't wake up.  Kristin smiled as she sat on the other end of the couch.  Flipping through a magazine she heard the phone ring.  She stared apprehensively at the phone and then picked it up after two rings.
"Hello?" she said.
"Hi!  This is Jane, Nick's mom.  Who's this?"
"I'm Kristin, Nick's new girlfriend," Kristin answered nervously.
"Oh that's right.  He told me about you before.  You came over to the house before we moved out here.  He needs to bring you up to LA sometime to meet the family."
"Yeah that sounds like fun," she said, hoping she didn't seem as nervous as she was.
"Is Nick around by chance?"
"Yeah, but he's sleeping right now.  Do you need me to wake him up?"
"No let him sleep.  It's mid afternoon there why is he sleeping?  Is he sick?"  Jane asked in concern.
"No, he just hurt his leg at the water park this afternoon and we had to take him to the emergency room."
"Oh my gosh!  Is he okay?"  Jane asked in a frantic tone.
"He's fine.  The doctors directed him to stay off his leg for a few days and they gave him some medication for the pain.  I'm staying with him the next two days to make sure he stays off his leg.  I'm a premed student at UCF so I know what to do.  Plus my mom was a nurse, so medical knowledge goes a long way in my family."
"That's good to know.  So how are you liking Orlando?"
"I'm loving every minute of it.  It's beautiful here.  I already feel right at home," Kristin said as she looked over at Nick who was now awake and sitting up on the couch.  She smiled and leaned against him.
"Well, I'm glad you're enjoying yourself while going to college," Jane continued.  "Well, when Nick wakes up have him call me."
"Actually he just woke up.  You want to talk to him now?" she asked as she ran her fingers through his tousled hair.
"Yeah, put him on."
Kristin handed Nick the phone.  "It's your mom."
Nick grinned then took the phone from her.  "Hey mom!  No, I'm okay.  It's just a cut on my leg.  The doctor told me I'd be fine if I stay off my leg for the next two days.  Plus I've got Kristin here if I need anything," he said as linked his fingers with hers.  "Okay, I will.  Love you too.  I'll call you in a few days.  Okay. . .bye," he said then hung up.  "Moms, gotta love them," he said with a grin.
Kristin snickered and made herself comfortable in Nick's arms.  "Did you sleep well?" she asked as she fiddled with his fingers.
"Not really.  The dogs kept waking me up.  Finally they shut up and I fell back asleep, but then Nicky woke me up when she jumped on me."
"I saw her sleeping on your chest when I came back."
"She always does that.  Nicky's my couch buddy.  Aren't you girl?" he said as he patted Houston on the head.  "Speaking of pugs, where are the rest of my dogs?"
"Ooh I almost forgot.  I let them out into the yard.  They were scratching at the door like they wanted to go outside.  I hope that's okay."
"Yeah that's fine, Nicky's the only one who isn't allowed outdoors without someone watching her.  She's cross-eyed and she can hurt herself," Nick commented as he picked up Nicky and sat her on his lap.  He was scratching Nicky behind the ear when he heard Kristin sigh loudly.  He looked over at her in concern.  "Something wrong?" he asked as he let Nicky down.
Kristin shook her head.  "I was just thinking."
"About?" he asked as he ran his fingers through her soft hair.
"When I went back to the apartment to get my stuff, Rach and I were talking about how we're so surprised to be with you guys.  How it's all really kind of overwhelming but nice at the same time.  It just seems to weird.  I'm not complaining, but I mean one minute I'm just an ordinary BSB fan.  And the next minute I'm going out with Nick Carter.  It's all kind of shocking."
"Well, I do know one thing," Nick said in a soft tone.
"What's that?"  Kristin asked, looking into Nick's eyes.
"I wouldn't think twice about being with you."
"Really?"  Kristin said in shock.
"Yes, really," Nick stated then kissed her on the lips.  "Mmm your lips taste good.  What flavor do you have on?"
"Kiwi strawberry."
"I like it.  Makes me hungry," he said as he jiggled his eyebrows.
Kristin laughed.  "Speaking of hungry, what do you want for dinner?"
"I dunno.  I'm in the mood for whatever.  What do you want?"
Kristin grinned.  "Your Durango."
"Hah!  Not on your life.  I meant for dinner you goof."
"Oh yeah!  Of course.  I dunno, you have plenty of food in your fridge.  How about I fix you something?"
"Sounds good to me," Nick said with a smile.
"Okay, I'll go get started," she said as she got up.  She then noticed Nick getting up with her.  "And just where you think you're gong mister?"
"With you," he said with an innocent grin.
Kristin shook her head.  "I don't think so.  You lay back down on that couch.  I'll be back when your dinner is ready."  Nick laid back down on the couch and sulked.  "If you're good, you'll have something special for dessert," she said as she kissed him on the lips.
"Mmm I'm liking that idea."
"Good, I'll be back when I'm done."
"I'll be waiting," Nick replied in a seductive voice.
"I bet you will," she said, then went into the kitchen.
