Crying Freeman 4

It seems that the scenario writer ran out of manga to copy instead opting to put his own touch on the Crying Freeman series.  Alas for him [and the series] his script is uninspired and frankly lame…. A professional wrestler joins up with a rival gang in order to lead Freeman into a web deceit [again] but Freeman and his venerable wife type manage to fight their way out in spectacular style [again] and every thing is happy [again].  As well as the change of scenario [digressing from the original manga into new uncharted territory] there is also a change of art director. Hence the animation has taken on a stylised sketchy look. Most fitting considering the artwork now looks lazy and unfinished perfectly complementing the horrible animation.  Toei really aren’t doing themselves any favours with this series if anything it’s reinforced their reputation for producing ugly anime.

Given the success of volume 3’s new approach to problem solving it’d seem a wise idea to continue this trend.  Guess what? They haven’t.  In fact this show features the same undermining traits that made volume 2 so painful.  Not only does it feature these aspects it turns them up to 11.  This is the most static of all the volumes – to call this animation would be like rewriting a page in the dictionary.  To call the sex erotic would be a crime against the porn industry.  To say that Crying Freeman 4 is anything but below average, disappointing and in all honesty rubbish would be such a stretch of kindness that I’d have to get a heart transplant to make it possible.
