Goth Princess Goes to Disney World!!!
Yes, you read correctly! And no, this had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with anything anime at all! So if that's what you were expecting, click that little back button right now. Unless I've caught your interest of course. Anyways. I'm in the band at my high school, and this year our spring trip was to Orlando Florida, to spend four magnificent days in the Renaissance hotel overlooking freaking Disney World! I've never been to Disney World! Hell, I'd never even been to Florida... But that's not the point. What does matter is that I'm going to take you on a lovely tour of my vacation, just because I feel like it and I have nothing better to do. Let's start at the begining.
That's me and my friend Lindsay at this kick-ass restrurant called Medieval Times. And anyone who knows me knows that I was all over a place like that. After a 14 hour road trip via bus to Florida from Virginia, we first stopped at the 'Wet 'n Wild' water park, checked in at the hotel, then made out way to the previously mentioned kick-ass restrurant. The basic idea of the place consists of dinner and a bunch of reinactment guys showing off beautiful horsemanship and falconry. Then came the knights. Sweet sassy molassy, they were cool! First they compeated amounst each other with things like catching rings on their lances, leading up to when they had to fight to the 'death'. The winner took on the evil 'Black Knight'. Needless to say, he won and it was pretty damn spiffy. All the time while watching this, you were served dinner. One catch: no utensils! No forks! No knives! And only ONE napkin! But there was Pepsi however. Of course. This brings me to the point of this little summary. The arena was divided up into sections: Blue, Yellow, Black&White, Red&Yellow, Red, and Green. Each color had a knight and band of squires to represent them. I was a Blue person, but most of my cheering went to this fellow here:
OH-MY-GOD! There was not a female in the room who wasn't swooning over Sir Hotsalot here! (and NO, that's not what they really called him) Not only was he pretty, he was COOL! The guy knew how to fight, ride a horse, and he had hair that would put any rock-star-wannabe to shame! Plus he was really nice. I just wish it was a little more evident in the picture that he was smiling. Can't blame him though, all those knight dudes were sweatin' after the show was over. Being in the Color Guard, I can relate to that. That goes for sweating as well as not being a ball of energy afterwards. This was definately one of those places where I'd want to work at if I, you know, lived in Orlando. But I don't, so oh well. This guy (his names Jason by the way) was beyond worthty to participate in my little tradition of...Leroy! Let's tell the legend for those who don't already know.
Several years ago I attended a silverchair (it's supposed to be in lower-case so don't start) concert. On my way into school that morning, I found a little stuffed cow on the ground outside and descided to keep it for my own. That night, Ben (the drummer) came out to talk to the fans, and I quickly looked for something to sign other than my pants. (which he already had) I dug into my pocket and was surprised to find that I had forgotten to take out the cow, which I had named Leroy earlier that day. Since he couldn't SIGN it, I descided to ask him to do the next best thing: give it a big 'ol kiss. He did, and since then Leroy has become a legend. This brings us to the present moment *drumroll* the Red & Yellow Knight. After getting the above picture with him, I, once again, was at a loss of something for him to sign. And once again, Leroy was on hand. He however, was not a enthusiastic as Ben to participate in this most nobel of traditions. However, he was still smiling the whole time I talked him into it, and eventually he did. So, if you ever read this oneday, oh honorable Red & Yellow Knight, know that you are a part of Goth Princess history for all eternity. Moving on.
The next day was out first full day in Florida. Friday! First we had breakfast at the Rainforest Cafe in Disney's Animal Kingdom, moving on later to Magic Kingdom. It was so cool! The prices wern't even that bad, I must say. However, I live near Busch Gardens, another one of those Theme Park giants, so maybe I'm just immune. The pic here is a detail of the one at the top of the page. I'd never forgiven myself if I didn't get a picture in front of the castle. After that, I went on such memorable rides as Space Mountain, Pirates of the Carribean, It's a Small World After All, and the Haunted Mansion. Man, this kicked so much ass. I think I've said 'ass' enough in this thing so far... I'll try to tune it down. Anyways, I had a lot of fun. Good thing too, for later that afternoon was the actual reason that we - the band - went to Orlando in the first place: The parade competition. While I play clarinet in the symphonic band, and I guard chick in the parade and marching season. That will probably be the same for next year too...if I'm not Drum Major! *cheers for the princess* Go me! Try outs are this weekend. Well, I guess I'll have to change that in a few days. Let's keep moving though.
We ended up placing 1st in the Parade in our catagory, and here you can see me in my Guard outfit afterwards when we went to dinner. It's the world's largest McDonalds! That's just too cool! Anyhow, the next day was the concert competition, in which the Concert Band, Jazz Band, Percussion Ensemble, and Symphonic Band competed in that order. I was only in the Symphonic, so I did a lot of sitting that day. Only the Symphonic Band placed, and that was 3rd, but that's okay 'cause we spent the rest of the day at MGM Studios. (Epcot was the only park we didn't got to) I went on Tower od Terror, Star Tours, the Aerosmith coaster, and I saw the 3D Muppet Show. Sunday morning, before the hidieously long bus ride back home, we went to Planet Hollywood for breakfast, where we were allowed in before it even opened! That was cool. On the way home we watched a butt-load of movies. I really love traveling with the band, and sleeping on a charter bus doesn't even bother me. It's really relaxing and we're always watching stuff. All in all, the trip was pretty kick.....tush. *trying not the swear* It really helped me get over the fact that....my computer crashed!! *bursts out crying* It's not fair! *chibi red & yellow knight comes out and flys around* Awww....kawaii....okay, I'm losing my grasp of reality, so I'll leave it at that. Medieval Times rocks!!!!
