| Character: Mistress 9 Series: Sailormoon S Style: TV series Debut: July 2002 Cons: Otakon 2002 Cost: about $3 Comments: The only part of this costume that I had to buy were the pearls, which I got in a cute little can of for about $1.50 each. I bought three cans, since I couldn't take out the string to see how long it was, but I didn't even use one. However, I bought it all for the costume so I'm including that in the price. I already owned the shirt, and the skirt was made out of two skirts: one that goes about to the ankle, and then a mini skirt with a flare effect that I sewed onto the bottom of the first one for the fish-tail look. I only wore this costume on the Sunday of Otakon, and with Rose as Mimette and Cathy and Amy as Uranus and Neptune, we made a cool Sailormoon S group. Not too many people regcognized us though, but those who did got a kick out of it. Character Info: Mistress 9 exists for the sole purpose of opening the dimensional gateway for a powerful and evil spirit known as Pharoh 90. Professor Tomoe had been brainwashed during an experiment and uses his own daughter, Hotaru, as a vessel to usher in his master, the Pharoh. Tomoe gives Hotaru the heart crystal of Chibiusa, Sailormoon's daughter, and when the crystal enters her body, Hotaru transforms into Mistress 9. Mistress 9 looks about 16, unlike little 10-year-old Hotaru, and gains the black star on her forehead that denotes membership in the Death Busters - the minions of Tomoe. Hotaru's soul is too strong though, and overpowers Mistress 9's pressense; but in doing so, awakens the Senshi of Destruction and Rebirth, Sailorsaturn, the third of Hotaru's personalities. |
