| Character: Gogo Yubari Series: Kill Bill vol. 1 Style: fight scene with The Bride Debut: October 2003 Cons: Dark Muffins Halloween 2003, Nekocon 2003 Cost: about $25 Comments: I will be the first to admit that this is a hypocritical costume. It really strikes me as, well, annoying when people wear pop-culture costumes to anime conventions. This includes Star Wars, Harry Potter, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, etc. Not that I don't like these things, it's just that they aren't anime. Granted, this was originally a Halloween costume, but I really liked it, as well as the way it looked on me, so I took it with me to Nekocon. The skirt was made from stuff I already had, the blazer I found at a thrift store, and the mace I made out of styrofoam (and 5th of chain). The necktie was made for my Alucard costume, but it works for this as well ^^. The only thing that really irks me is the shoes. She's supposed to have white Keds, but I just didn't feel like buying shoes for such a minor costume. Sue me ^^. Character Info: Gogo, though only 17 years old, is the personal bodyguard to Oren Ishii, the newly oppointed leader of the Yakuza. She's been in assassin training for most of her life and takes a sort of demonic glee in not only killing, but torturing as well. Her knowledge of weaponry extends at least to the sword and the mace, though as a bodyguard. it surely goes further. She is the first to take on the The Bride when she comes for Oren, and puts up probably the most respectable fight out of the entire Crazy 88, Oren's own private army. |
