Nekocon Victory:
Dark Muffins Style
Back
Here we are after the cosplay. I don't know why Michelle (Chibiusa) looks so sad. I was ecstatic! After coming away from Otakon empty-handed, it was a relief to know that we still had it in us to win. The audience reaction would have been good enough for me, but it's always a big bowl of warm fuzzies to get to go back on stage and receive an award. But like Patrick (Wiseman) said right after we performed, "I don't care if we win anything, because that was freakin' awesome!!"
In every skit we do there's a few of us who looks just like the friggin' character. I would like to think that I was one of those few at Otakon when I was D. For Nekocon however, Cathy wins by a long-shot. Despite being our only cross-play in the skit, this pose embodies the essence of Prince Diamond.
For some unknown reason, the Sailormoon girls completely melt for Tuxedo Kamen. Here with the most notorious of his fans, (Moon, Pluto & Black Lady) one can't help but wonder if they're having more fun with him or each other.... Thomas: "Can we take the freakin' picture already?!?!"
Awww, isn't she cute? Here's our Emerald, the DM newbie Christina. Although she was a zombie in the Bloodlust skit (yay, 3 seconds of stage time) this was her first skit as a major character. Those are actually my Alexiel gloves she's wearing, as she would retrieve her's from Cathy later that day. This was while the morning disaster of I-Though-You-Had-The-Cosplay-CD was still taking place. Thank Goddess we found it, but that's one experiance I never want to go through again.
Our Sailormoon men. Thomas as Tuxedo Kamen and Phillip as Rubius. This was Thomas' first skit, and from the looks of things he loved it. He'd been a supporter of ours since Bloodlust and to our surprise, volunteered to make our Time Staff for Pluto. I would also like to publically apologize for molesting him on stage. As for Phillip, he is proudly the best Rubius ever. He has the hair, the vest, and necklace and *gasp* the earrings! The boy even shaved his pits for the part. Go bishounen!!
The cosplay originally called for a costume change on Lauren's part as well as Michelle's. We tried to make it work. We really, really did. It just...didn't happen. Things went fine until we realized that Lauren would be wearing a wig at the same time as the cosplay ^_^;;. By the time we said "Screw it, we don't need a costume change" Lauren had already made the Neo-Queen Serenity dress she was planning on changing into, though, so here she is, donning it in all her queenliness. It would have looked so cool to have the Neo-Queen as Princess Chibiusa do the twirly-thing together, but unfortunately we at Dark Muffins obey the laws of time and practicality.
Okay, so this isn't a Sailormoon costume. One can't deny Rose, however, her God-given right to strut her stuff to the Fansview guy. I personally believe we all should and here's Rose setting an example for the rest of us. A mostly-completed version of Naga the White Serpent from the Slayers movies. We all thought she was kidding. We will never doubt her again.
This is my favorite picture of our costumes so far. If only the whole cast was in it ><. I guess I'm just a little partial since this is the first picture I've found of myself (Black Lady, in case you haven't caught on) where I don't think I look like crap. If no one else, I wish Diamond was in this one, so at least we'd have the full Black Moon royalty.
Another good group shot, this time of the whole cast! This was shortly after the cosplay, right after we found out that we won ^_^. No actual trophy this time, but an award is an award and since it's a Judge's Prize, that counts as a full point on our tally. We'll be Craftsmen at Katsucon o.O.
