FAREWELL TO ANDY HUG ONE OF THE GREATEST KYOKUSHIN FIGHTER
1964-2000

Shihan Andy Hug of Switzerland, a well-known former Kyokushin fighter and a world renowned martial artist and winner of the 1996 K-1 Grand Prix, passed away unexpectedly at 6:21pm. on Thursday evening, August 24th, 2000, in a Tokyo hospital. He was 35. The immediate cause of his death is believe to be an unexpectedly rapid-acting blood related illness, possibly leukemia.  He was only a few weeks short of his 36th birthday. Shihan Andy Hug will be missed by the Martial Arts community.
