What Can I Say

“Kai, I really think you’re a nice person.”

That comment made my eyes grow wide open…I was *nice*?

“Uhhh…Kai?”

“What do you mean by nice?!”

Max stared at me, his cerulean blue eyes wide open with shock. “Ahhh…okay.” He smiled nervously.

“I still think you’re a nice guy.”

My mouth gaped open, mesmerized by his stupid, stupid self.

“You’re a really nice guy, Kai.”

“W-What are you talking about?!” I moved back folding my arms across my chest pretending not to be listening, staring at everything else except Max. He chuckled as if showing me his amusement towards my reaction.

“Why can’t you just go away?”

“But you’re the one who followed me!” He pouted.

My face turned red. Damn, he was getting smarter. I look away again, just to see two big ugly men staring at our direction. I let out a sigh. Man, don’t these spies ever learn? My grandpa sure has neat ways of getting me home. I already told him I’d find those bitbeasts by myself! But…nooooo….. He has to be like those Hollywood movie villains who have spies he can send after you! WHAT A DORK.

“Kai? What’s wrong?”

I turn at Max’s direction, that freckled face of his full of worry. “Kai, please tell me!” He grabbed my arm, I could see he was slightly shaking….

“You’re not mad are you?”

“Eh? I’m….I’m not mad…it’s just…” The men started to walk to our direction, thinking quickly, I grabbed Max by the wrist and took the chance to run away.

“W-Waah! What’s going on??” Max asked frantically. “Shut up..those guys are after us.” I explained ever so calmly.

“B-BUT WHY?!?”

“Because my sweet old grandpa wants me home…”

We were running so fast I didn’t have time to notice the bumpy pavement, when…

*Blag*

“O-Ouch!” I stopped running and saw that Max had tripped. “It’s okay Kai, you can go without me!” How selfless. The idiot.

“Moron, I can’t leave you! Here, I’ll carry you on my back!” He looked at me those eyes reflecting his hesitation and embarrassment.

“Just hurry, will you?” I offered my back, hiding this distinct blush that had crept up my face. “I won’t get mad.”

“Ah, okay.”

We kept on running till we reach a safe spot, a dark narrow alley. I put him down slowly as I, myself, sat down beside him. “You okay?”

I hope he is…

“K-Kind of…”

“Let me see…”

He rolled up part of his pants to expose the huge gash he had on his right knee. “It’s nothing bad, see? It doesn’t sting or anything.” He smiled. “Yeah right, and Tyson hates food.” He laughed at my sarcasm, and as usual, I thought it was cute. Yes, I think Max is cute. Wanna shoot me? At least I got to admit it. I tore off a small part of my scarf and wrapped it around his injured knee.

“There, that should do it.”

“B-But Kai! I thought you needed it tomorrow!?”

“Needed what?”

“The scarf, you told me so!” he pointed out. I smile a little, yeah, I did say that just then, didn’t I? Then why did I just ruin it? I ran my hand through my hair and slumped back to the cold concrete wall.

“I don’t know either.”

“Huh?”

The whole moment was strange, I leaned to him, and all Max did was gaze at me with those innocent eyes. I smile again, as I placed my lips over his.
