When the tired and disorganised Scottish finally reached the english lines the English billmen chopped the pikes into harmless prodding sticks. (The continental pike system is based on highly trained highly organised men fighting on flat hard land , and with these conditions are unstoppable ).

At this point Stanleys forces attack the Argyll and Lenonox troops on the left and after some resistance to the English the Scots fled the field. Stanley quickly regrouped his men and charged into King James IV  troops flank and rear.By night fall the battle was over and the English had won Decisively .

It is reported that the Scots lost over 10,000 men and the English around 1000, but what ever the facts many men died on that field in 1513.
