| Chapter 3: What? Keriko asked. Well...I did something terrible. Requin answered, fiddling with his thumbs. What is it? Keriko asked. Well... Requin said slowly. A bead of sweat trickled down his forehead. Go on... She urged. I found this in Jaocilyns bedroom. Requin confessed, holding the tube of lipstick in the light. So what? Keriko asked, feeling very confused. Its worn down, as if it was used to write something. Requin answered. A flash of Arstalisa in the pool with the sign on her back came back to Keriko. What are you saying? Keriko asked. Well...at first I was worried because Jaocilyn was gone on the night that Mina was murdered. Requin said. But I thought that I was just being paranoid. I never thought that my little sister could ever do such a thing. Keriko silently urged Requin to continue. Plus, Jaocilyn was out last night. Requin continued. She said that she was going over to a friends house...but after this, Im not sure if that was the truth. So youre saying that you think Jaocilyns the killer? Keriko asked. Requin nodded. Suddenly, the lights went out. The only light was softly shing from the now open, gym door. Keriko and Requin froze. They uneasily looked around the room with frightened expressions on their face. The thin wisps of light shone off of the bleachers, making finger-like shadows reaching toward them. Keriko screamed when she felt two hands wrap around the back of her neck. Boo. Johen said, laughing out loud. Johen, you dumbass! Keriko angrily yelled. She punched Johen hard on the shoulder. Man... Johen said, laughing hysterically. You guys should have seen the looks on your faces! Gray, this is serious. Requin said. What? Johen asked. We found out who the killer is. Keriko said. Its Jaocilyn. Jaocilyn? Johen asked stupidly. Talking about me? Jaocilyn asked, leaning against the gym door. She flicked on the lights and shut the door. Jaocilyn! Keriko gasped. Stay away from us! Requin said. He stood in front of Keriko. Oh, so the jigs not up? Jaocilyn sneered. You back-stabbing traitor! Were you planning on putting all of the blame on me so you could get away with it?! She doesnt actually believe you, does she? Keriko uneasily backed away from Requin. She couldnt believe that she had trusted Requin. She had stood so close to him. Keriko, no! Requin yelled, jumping toward her. No you dont, you killer! Johen shouted, pouncing after Requin. He punched Requin out on the floor. Oh ny gosh! Keriko screamed in horror. Quick! Over here! Away from her! Johen yelled to Keriko, waving her over. Keriko screamed and ran towards Johen, as she saw Jaocilyn advancing upon her. Help! Keriko yelled, jumping into Johens arms. You fool... Johen said, sneering. He placed a set of handcuffs onto Kerikos wrist. Huh? Keriko stuttered looking aat the handcuffs. You jumped right into my arms. Johen snickered. How stupid. I thought that Requin was your best friend. I thought that you would have trusted him over me. Whats going on? Keriko asked. You really are stupid, huh? Jaocilyn sneered. I cant believe that Teru picked you over me. What are you talking about? Keriko asked. You guys were in it together? Of course. Jaocilyn said, smiling proudly at her. You ruined both of our lives. You stole Teru away from me! He was supposed to love me! Yeah, you bitch. Johen said. You know, I had so much going for me before you came. I was going to be president of the student council and I was supposed to have it set for me to be class valedictorian, but you had to bring your brainy self into this school. You stole away the spotlight. Selfish pig... Jaocilyn scoffed. But why did you hurt Mina and Arstalisa? Keriko asked. Oh, well I was just going to talk to Arstalisa, when she thought that I was Requin. Johen answered. She was drunken out of her mind, I guess. She started confiding in to me that she loved Requin, so I took advantage of the situation. She was so easy. I just killed her to give you a scare. Well I killed Mina by accident. Jaocilyn said. It was really dark and I couldnt see a thing. I didnt know that she was at you house, so thinking that it was you, I killed her. Oh well...mistakes happen. But we wont make another mistake again, will we? Johen asked, pulling out a dagger from inside of his coat pocket. The knife was still encrusted with dried blood. Lets just finish the job now! Keriko tightly shut her eyes as Johen brought the dagger down hard and plunged it deep into her chest. Keriko winced hard, waiting for the rush of pain to overwhelm her. When no pain came, she slowly opened her eyes. She saw Jaocilyn knocked out on the ground and Johen fighting with Teru for the knife. Leave me alone! Johen yelled, scrambling for the knife. This isnt your fight! She betrayed you, man! Im not letting you hurt her! Teru shouted, kicking the knife away. Keriko ran forward and picked up the knife. Stop! She yelled, holding the knife up high. Teru and Johen ignored her. Keriko walked up to them and held the knife up to Johens throat. Get away from Teru or Ill kill you. Keriko threatened. Johen smiled. You couldnt kill me. Johen smirked, letting go of the collar of Terus shirt. You dont have the guts to kill me. Keriko dropped the knife. It made a loud, clanging noise as it hit the ground. Yeah, I guess youre right. Keriko admitted, before her fist came crashing forward into his face. She punched him out cold. Wow. Teru said, staring at Keriko in fascination. I never knew you could do that. Me neither. Keriko said, looking at her hand. ***** It was a week later, and Johen and Jaocilyn had gone to trial. They were charged with murder of two people and attempted murder. They were both sentenced five years in prison. Keriko and Teru immediately got back together and had their lives back to normal. Im so sorry that I didnt trust you. Keriko apologized. Its ok. Teru said, forgivingly. At least were safe and together. I know... Keriko said, hugging him tightly. Its finally over. She closed her eyes and sighed in relief. She didnt see Teru smile. The games not over yet. Teru mouthed silently, running his fingers through her dark-red hair. Its only just begun. The End Back to Stories |
