Botcon/TOFCC 2003
Wednesday July 23-; the flight out was peaceful and running late, but time was made up in the air. Claiming my suitcase I heard a yell, "BARB!" Turning about I see Katy White running towards me with Heather Feldman, Mike Quevedo, and Ozzy Mendez following closely. After a quick exchange and hugs, we carried onto the hotel. We talked and basically chilled for the night. One point is the convention really needs to look into food availability, thank goodness we bought food with us!
Thursday July 24-; A trip on the subway and the Field Museum with its Egypt exhibit exploded onto the scene. Right now it is on loan from the British Museum. Walking though different cultures, going on adventures though the Earth and coming face to face with the man eating lions of Tsavo was just part of the day.
Friday July 25-; First thing in the morning I got to see Sharon and Darryn. (sorry we didn�t get to spend that must time together.) Mike started getting a bit ill, and we realized that there was something in the room that some of us were allergic to. We headed out to the Shedd Aquarium, were we walked though the new wild reef. We traveled to Asia, Africa and Australia, from Tropical waters to Ocean coasts to lakes and river systems. A small show from some Dolphins- ocean white sided. To Beluga whales, the Aquarium gave us a full day in Chicago. Plus we did a little food shopping in town so we didn�t have to eat the expensive hotel food. That night we ordered deep dish pizza and relaxed.
Saturday July 26-; was a slow start as TOFCC started. Heather turned out to be ill as we took in the dealers room, art contest and guest speakers. I also got to see a couple of friends here and there. Oh, and I posed with an cobra solider. I didn�t buy much, as I was looking more for art work than toys, and the art show was not that put together this year for reasons we found out on Sunday.
Sunday July 27-; showed us that this year was rough getting the convention started due to many hardships- from babies to divorce and health scares. This day was my time to be ill and I stayed most of the day in the room. I was pleased to see Katherine Brown, who came to my room. Katy left this day and I was sad but also looking forward to our next visit, that will be in May as Heather and Mike are getting married and I am planning on traveling to go to the wedding.
Monday July 28-; we woke and began packing leaving the hotel around 9am and traveling to O�Hare. Where I lost Mike, Ozzy and Heather. Then before I knew it, it was time for my flight and I air born.
