Fortress of the Technocracy

The Fortress is the home of the Technocracy, and the center of all 'High' technology in Artheria. This is where guns are made, water-pumps run deep into underground rivers, and everyone and his brother has a new invention to peddle. Its population is 80,000 people, the majority of whom are desert humans.

Government:
The government of Fortress is made up of groups of Technocrats, of varying ranks. Skill in technology is not the primary thing needed to lead the technocrats, rather, the head Technocrat is whoever is voted on to lead by his peers in the Great Guild. A new election can be held at any time, for any reason, so th head Technocrat must be very careful.

Governor: Alhanar, Human Techocrat (expert 3)
Important Officials: Technocrats, Human (expert 4)
City Guardsman(normal): Ripper Bladesman (soldier 3)
City Guardsman(Elite): Gunman(soldier 6)

Physical:
The Fortress consists of some 3 massive walls, all made of wrought iron, each growing larger around the key center. The center is not so much a government entity, as the key mining facility, where the abundance of iron and gunpowder used by the Technocracy is obtained. The center is surrounded, just outside the walls, by stores and inns, mostly selling the goods that are produced within the center. Outside this ring of stores is the core residential area of the city, which is jam-packed with people all the way up to the second wall. Outside the second wall, sporadic sheds are built on the desert sand, out until the third wall is reached. Each wall is 14 feet high, with a single guard post every 30 feet. Each gate has a tower on either side, is well-braced to resist breakage, and is usually manned by about 10 gunmen.

Major Organizations:
Technocracy: The technocracy manages all that goes on within the Fortress, from the sales of its devices to the taxes on the inhabitants. Entry into their order requires only some mild skill in technology, and to forsake the use of magic. They do accept some cultists in their order, and have little against Mages, but they believe they must keep this rule to remain focused on advancements in pure technology. They sometimes sell 'experimental' objects for a reduced price, in order to find out what they will do with use.
