PAUL H. BAUMAN WILL CONTINUE HIS SON'S BUSINESS
Announcement was made today by Paul H. Bauman, of Marshall, father of the late Joseph F. Bauman, that he will continue to operate the general contracting business of his son without change in personnel or policy and that the Universal Crane Service company of which the late Mr. Bauman was president, will also be continued.  Mr. and Mrs. Bauman will move to Battle Creek from Marshall, and will live at their late son's home, 74 Latta avenue, where they will care for his nine children, seven of whom are students at St. Philip school.
Mr. Bauman is a veteran contractor, having been in business in Battle Creek for 15 years before retiring and taking up his residence in Marshall.  His son succeeded him as a general contractor here and carried on the business for 12 years prior to his death.  Before his retirement from the contracting business the elder Bauman was in charge of many important construction jobs at local industrial plants and business buildings, including those of the Nichols & Shepard company, United Steel & Wire company, the A-B Stove company, Rich Steel Products company, the Powers block and the shop building of the Union Steam Pump company.  When the Grand Trunk Railway shops were moved to Battle Creek, Mr. Bauman was given contracts for building residences for many of the employees who came to Battle Creek at that time.
Before entering business in Battle Creek, Mr Bauman had been a general contractor in Cleveland and in Detroit. In Cleveland he was contractor for the construction of the White Motor company factory, which at that time was the largest automobile plant in the country.  In Detroit he supervised the construction of a number of new apartment buildings, residences and business blocks.
